Dear Believers and Truth Seekers,

I think I’m finally shaking off a 48 hour bug that had me hardly moving from couch to bed the last few days — but God is good, and I’m on the mend. Be safe out there.  While resting, I watched a lot of YouTube and news, and I must say the protests and unrest around recent federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota have been intense. I got all the tea.

Reports show that protests erupted after an officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, sparking national outrage and ongoing demonstrations. In addition, tensions continued with other shooting incidents and widespread criticism of aggressive enforcement actions.

The discoveries of massive fraud and drug trafficking seem endless The suffering of innocent people—along with reports of children being exploited—are beyond belief. Hearing both sides of the argument felt like watching a real-life thriller unfold.

Hearing voices from every side — claims of injustice, political arguments, and emotional reactions — made me think we are living in the twightlight zone.  Amid all that chaos, my heart kept returning to one question: What is the role of believers when lies, fear, and confusion seem to be everywhere?

After devotions and prayer, I write to you about spiritual authority — how we as believers must stand firm, speak truth, and take command in our lives and physical surroundings. The confusion we see in Minnesota and beyond is a powerful example of what happens when lying, stealing, and killing are allowed to define public discourse.

At the heart of all deception is one adversary — Satan, the father of lies — seeking to divide, discourage, and distract us from God’s truth.

1 Peter 5:8  KJV  “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

It all starts with a lie and ends up with fear.  It is the fear that make people act in disobiedienc to God’s word.  Lying does not just break trust—it trains the brain for fear. God warned us long ago in  Exodus 20:16 (KJV): “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”  This command protects hearts, homes, and minds.  Let’s talk about it.

When a person lies often, the brain stays on alert. Fear grows. Paranoia follows. In counseling, we see this clearly. Habitual lying increases stress and identity confusion. A person forgets who they really are. They must remember stories, defend false words, and live in worry not to contradict themselves.

There’s an old saying: “Tell one lie, and you’ll need another to cover it.” Before long, you’re juggling stories like a bad memory game. Peace quietly exits, and fear moves in and takes the couch.

The Bible shows this danger in Ahab and Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kings 21 KJV).

King Ahab wanted Naboth’s vineyard, but Naboth refused to sell it because it was an inheritance from his family.  King Ahab became angry and discouraged. His wife Jezebel then made a wicked plan. She arranged false charges against Naboth, which led to his death.

After Naboth was killed, Ahab took the vineyard. God saw the injustice and sent the prophet Elijah to confront Ahab. God judged Ahab for abusing his power and allowing innocent blood to be shed. The story shows that greed, manipulation, and injustice bring God’s judgment, even against kings.

Jezebel used lies and false witnesses to destroy Naboth. Her lies led to injustice, death, and judgment.  Lies always cost more than people expect.  God pronounced judgment that Jezebel would die violently, and her body would be dishonored. This showed that those who use lies to destroy others will not escape justice.

She was eaten by the dogs.  This story is to show that God sees all and no one gets out of anything. God delayed part of his judgement because the King repented. He delayed the judgement that King Ahab would lose his life and legacy.

He delayed the judgement that the land would testify against the people of Ahab because innocent blood cried out to God.  This reveals something important: God is just, but He is also merciful when there is repentance.

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV  “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

We see a similar spirit today. In the public space, common decency is fading. Words are spoken carelessly, as if truth no longer matters. When imaginations, thoughts, ideologies, and evil spirits rise above the knowledge of God, Scripture teaches they must be brought into captivity to Christ.

Lies and evil speech feed darkness. That energy spreads. But praise feeds light. The light defeats the darkness.  Where there is the spirit, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17  KJV “ Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

As believers, our response is clear. Praise God more. Speak truth. Take authority in Christ. Darkness does not leave because we ask politely. Jesus gave authority to command it to go—in His name.

Recently, a church service in Minnesota was disrupted by anti-ice protestors. The pastor showed calm and self-control, which is good. He asked the protestors to leave.  He did not command them to leave eventho he had access to a mike.  Many times we are not speaking to people but the spirit(s) behind the actions of people.

Yet moments like this remind all churches: we must pray together and stand in spiritual authority-Jesus Christ is Lord. The church is not powerless. When believers unite in authority, prayer and praise – confusion stops, fear breaks, and peace returns.

Satan uses disobedience and chaos to distract believers from prayer and using authority. But God’s power still works the same. Truth brings peace. Praise brings strength. Prayer brings order.  We worship in spirit and truth.  Therefore, lying and disobedience can truly disarm our authority.

John 1:17 KJV  “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Reflection Question:
Where is God calling you to speak truth, praise more, and pray boldly instead of reacting in fear?  Do I speak truth even when it is hard to do so?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-109That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-65Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
