Ignoring Communion Weakens Spiritual Awareness:
Main Scripture: Jesus sat with the disciples before being imprisoned and curixified. He performed communion with bread (flesh) and wine (blood). 1 Corinthians 11:25-31 KJV — “25After the same manner also he (Jesus) took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me
. 26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”

What is Communion. Communion is not just a church ritual. When a believer partakes of communion, they are declaring a deep spiritual truth: God is in them, and they are in God. Communion is a living confession of unity with Christ and participation in His death and His resurrection.
Jesus said in John 6:56 (KJV), “He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” Communion is a reminder that believers share in Christ’s life, power, and victory over death. To avoid or ignore communion is to weaken spiritual awareness and distance oneself from resurrection truth.
It is important for you, your love ones, friends and family to take communion together as well as with the church. Some families do not all attend the same church. However, when you need strength and rememberance, you can take communion by yourself.
Joshua 24:15 KJV “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
It is important to chose a church home that baptizes in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Remember the Son is Jesus Christ. In different parts of the world they call Jesus in native Hebrew languages. They take communion and Baptize for the same reasons stated below.
📢 Note: In the KJV bible in other scriptural references: bread is symbolic for flesh and wine is smbolyic for blood. 1 Corinthians 11:25-31 KJV
John 6: 51-57 KJV: 51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
Below are five biblical reasons why avoiding communion has serious spiritual implications:
✔️1. It Weakens Awareness of Union With Christ
1 Corinthians 10:16 (KJV) teaches that the bread and cup are a communion of the body and blood of Christ. Ignoring communion dulls awareness that believers are spiritually joined to Jesus. Without this reminder, faith becomes intellectual instead of relational.
1 Corinthians 10:16 KJV “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?”
✔️ 2. It Distances Believers From Resurrection Power
Romans 6:5 (KJV) says believers are planted together in Christ’s death and resurrection. Communion keeps resurrection power fresh in the heart. Avoiding it weakens confidence in victory over sin, fear, and death.
Romans 6:5 KJV “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:”
✔️3. It Leads to Spiritual Forgetfulness
Jesus said in Luke 22:19 (KJV), “This do in remembrance of me.” Communion protects believers from forgetting what Christ has done. When remembrance fades, gratitude, obedience, and reverence fade too.
Luke 22:19 KJV “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
✔️4. It Weakens Spiritual Discernment
1 Corinthians 11:29 (KJV) warns that failing to discern the Lord’s body brings spiritual harm. Avoiding communion can lead to spiritual dullness, where truth is harder to recognize and conviction is easier to ignore. Many believers feel distant from God due to neglect of spiritual disciplines.
1 Corinthians 11:29 KJV “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.”
✔️ 5. It Reduces Fellowship With God and Others
Communion unites believers with Christ and with each other. 1 John 1:7 (KJV) says walking in the light brings fellowship. Avoiding communion can quietly isolate believers, weakening love, humility, and accountability.
1 John 1:7 KJV “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
🤔 Final Thought
Communion is a resurrection declaration. It says, “Christ lives in me, and I live in Him.” John 6:56 KJV Ignoring it does not remove salvation, but it weakens spiritual awareness, confidence, and power. God invites believers not to avoid the table—but to come, remember, and live in resurrection truth.
