Isaiah 42:8 KJV:  “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

So you posted your plate from that expensive restaurant. You showed off your new outfit, your new boo, and your “look what God did” moment. But then… something felt off.

Why do we feel so empty after showing off?   Maybe it’s because we’re flexing for people instead of showing up for God.

📖 Bible Story Example – The Rich Fool’s Future Got Canceled
In Luke 12:16–21 KJV, Jesus tells the story of a rich man who bragged about his big harvest. He said, “I’ll build bigger barns, kick back, and live the good life!” But God called him a fool and said, “Tonight your life is required of you.” All that flexing, and he didn’t even see the next morning.

Ouch.

🌍 Real World Example – The Graduation Post That Backfired
Marcus posted his graduation photo with #ImTheTruth and a 10-paragraph caption. Two weeks later, he still didn’t have a job—and was back in his mom’s basement, eating cereal with no milk. 😩

Now he encourages others with God’s Word instead of just achievements—and says that’s the kind of flex that never fails.

Matthew 6: 1-5 KJV  1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

💡 Takeaway Thought:
True strength isn’t in showing off—it’s in showing up for God every day and giving him all the praise and glory.

❓ Reflection Question:
Are you living to impress others or to make heaven proud?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
