Praise Sunday Poetry “Wisdom Got Me Woke”

Inspired by Proverbs & the Spirit of Excellence

I used to pray for a miracle,
But wouldn’t read one Proverb—typical. 😅
Asked for favor, asked for wealth,
But left my Bible on the shelf.

Lord, bless me with promotion,
While I’m bingeing lotion videos in slow motion. 🧴📱
Cried for change—said “God, You’re slackin’,”
But wisdom whispered: “No, you’re lackin’.”

Proverbs got me checking me.
Not my neighbor. Not Aunt Dee.
It said, “Lazy hands make a man poor,”
And I was like… 😳 “Well. Say no more.”

I used to walk with folks real loose,
Now I roll with wisdom—and the Holy Ghost, too.
See, I wanted excellence, but skipped correction,
I wanted glory, without direction.

Then Proverbs 12:1 hit my pride:
“He that hateth reproof is brutish”— I nearly died.  
I read it twice, thought it was shady,
But wisdom clapped back like, “Don’t play me, baby.”

Now I rise with purpose and pray with heat,
Put the gossip down and stay off the street.
I work with joy, and guard my talk,
Walk like royalty—not just church walk. 👑

Proverbs 31 ain’t just for wives,
It’s a lifestyle for kingdom lives.
Because a Spirit of Excellence ain’t just a phrase—
It’s showing up daily and giving God praise.

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
