Waiting is one of the hardest things in life. Yet, as Andrew Murray teaches in his book, Waiting on God, the act of waiting is not wasted time — it is God’s training ground for deeper faith. Scripture says, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him” (Psalm 37:7, KJV).

Waiting Produces Strength: Isaiah 40:31 KJV  promises that those who wait on the Lord “shall renew their strength.”

Waiting Builds Trust: Instead of rushing ahead, waiting positions us to see God’s hand clearly. Abraham had to wait for Isaac; Joseph had to wait in prison; Israel had to wait for deliverance.

Abraham and Sarah were up in age (Genesis 21KJV):   They waited decades for a child.  In their old age  God promised them a son. In the waiting, their faith was tested, yet God proved faithful.

 

 

Action Steps

Daily Stillness: Spend 10 minutes each day in silence before God — no requests, just listening.

Scripture Journal: Record promises from the Bible about waiting (Psalm 27:14 KJV; Lamentations 3:25-26 KJV).

Release Control: Each morning, pray: “Lord, I trust Your timing today.”
