Hello ePrayer Circle’s Tribe,

As we near the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on 2024. If you opened a dictionary and looked up the word “deceit,” I wouldn’t be surprised if “2024” was listed right beside it. This year has been one of eye-opening moments and lessons about honesty, trust, and the consequences of hidden motives.

I want to share some thoughts with you about deceit—plus, there’s an exciting surprise waiting for you at the end of this letter. Stick with me to find out what it is!

Deceit and emotional sabotage often creep into our lives in subtle ways. Crying, laughing, anger, and even invoking the name of God can be used to manipulate, hide the truth, or control others. These actions might seem harmless at first, but they damage relationships and create a need for repentance and healing.

The Bible is clear: honesty and truth are essential for living in alignment with God’s will. Deceit only leads to brokenness, but repentance leads to restoration. Let’s dig deeper into this topic together and prepare our hearts for the hope and renewal ahead. Remember, Jesus was betrayed with a kiss by one of his disciples in pointing Jesus out to his enemies.  The kiss identified him.

Luke 22:48 KJV  “But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betray thou the Son of man with a kiss?

And now, about that surprise… Stay tuned for a special announcement that will make December a month of growth, love, and truth! Let’s go! 🎉

Proverbs 10:9 (KJV) says, “He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverted his ways shall be known.” This means people who live honestly are safe, but those who lie will eventually be caught.

I had a friend many years ago who used emotional sabotage in her marriage. She liked to stay out late with friends, when she came home late, she pretended to be mad about anything.

She told me that her anger stopped her husband from asking questions. She laughed about it, She said, I would get mad and throw something at the wall, floor anything, then go to bed.

I realize many people do that as a way to hide the truth. Her actions weren’t fair to her husband, and they damaged trust in their relationship. They were married 22 years and now are divorced. People get tired of dog and pony shows.

In the Bible, Jacob deceived his father, Isaac, to steal the blessing meant for his brother, Esau (Genesis 27 KJV).  He pretended he was Esau with great emotions as his father was nearly blind.

Jacob put hair of a kid goat on his arm and neck so his father would feel him and think he was Esau as Esau was very hairy. He told his father he had returned from the errand he sent him on quickly because God brought what he needed to him.

Jacob received the greatest blessings that go to the eldest son, Esau.

Genesis 28-29 KJV  28Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: 29Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curse thee, and blessed be he that bless thee. Jacob received Esau blessing.

Jacob’s lie caused a big fight in the family. Esau was so angry he wanted to hurt Jacob, and Jacob had to run away for years. Even though they made peace later, the pain of Jacob’s lie hurt their family deeply.

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) reminds us, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Using emotions to avoid responsibility only works for a short time. The truth will always come out.

I also worked with someone who cried whenever she was told to be on time. Her tears made people feel bad, but the next day, she was late again.

Jesus said in John 8:32 (KJV), “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Honesty sets us free. Emotional sabotage and lies trap us in fear and guilt. God wants us to live in truth and trust Him to handle our problems.

Let’s ask ourselves: Are we being honest in our relationships? Or are we hiding behind deceit? God sees our hearts and rewards those who choose to live with integrity.

Matthew 22:36-40 KJV  36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

  CALL TO SALVATION

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
