Stop Going Back to What God Delivered You From
📖 Scripture Focus: Proverbs 26:11 KJV – “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.”
🐶 That’s Gross… and That’s the Point!
Imagine watching a dog throw up… and then go back to lick it up. Yuck! That’s exactly how God describes what it looks like when we go back to the same mess He delivered us from.
Whether it’s toxic friendships, bad habits, or foolish choices—God says we look just as silly when we keep repeating them.

📖 Bible Story Example – Israel’s Golden Mistake
In Exodus 32 KJV, God had just delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. But while Moses was on the mountain getting the commandments, the people got bored. So, what did they do?
They made a golden cow and started worshipping it!
They went right back to idol worship—the very thing God saved them from. Their “vomit” was a gold calf party, and it didn’t end well.
🌍 Real World Example – The Text You Shouldn’t Send
Sharon broke up with her ex-boyfriend because he lied, cheated, and disrespected her. She cried, prayed, fasted, and felt peace again… until he texted, “Hey.” That’s all it took.
She replied, went back, and felt worse than before. Sharon finally blocked him and got accountability. She learned: Peace is better than poison.
God wants us to reconcile but do things properly. In marraiges, counseling may be needed or a longer separation after consulting with God. If so, then proceed. God mends relationships that are rooted in him. Don’t go back to the same situation without change but people reconcile with change because sometimes there is just a misunderstanding. Change and truth is how people stay married for years and years. Trust God and invite the truth into your lives because love is based on truth.
Matthew 7:6 KJV “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
💡 Takeaway Thought:
Don’t be like the dog. What God helped you throw up—don’t go back and pick it up.
❓ Reflection Question:
What’s one thing God freed you from that tries to sneak back into your life?
