Hello Truth Seekers and Believers,

It’s a cold Wednesday, but my heart is warm—and I hope the same is true for you. The other day, I was talking with a friend on the phone. She told me she had been up all night and couldn’t sleep. I asked her why, and she paused and said, “Honestly, I don’t know.” Then she added, “I just leave the TV on.”

I laughed, and she asked, “What?”
I told her, “That’s exactly why you can’t sleep. All of that noise, puppet shows, and grand standing is driving everyone a little insane.” She laughed too—and agreed.

What followed was a quiet, honest conversation about peace, rest, and what happens when we carry too much without realizing it. I shared my own experience with her—the same one I want to share with you today. It’s about learning how to live, not from fear or exhaustion, but from a place of grace.

Let’s talk about it.

A year ago, Christmas looked very different for me. It was my first Christmas without my mother. She had passed, and for the first time in over sixty years, she was no longer part of my life—or my Christmas. In the two years surrounding that season, I had also lost friends, cousins, and even people I once struggled with. Slowly, my world grew smaller.

I was left with a few close people and my daughter—and for that, I was truly grateful. Still, it felt as though half of me had disappeared, never to return. On top of all this, I live as a widow. I had always been surrounded by much love—by people who loved me and whom I loved in return—even though my family was small. There are many kinds of families, so cherish yours while you can.

I know this is something many seniors experience, but now people of all ages are losing loved ones in record numbers. Some have lost entire families within a single year. Grief is no longer rare—it is everywhere.

That Christmas, I did all the “busy” things people do during the holidays, trying to silence the loud cry in my heart. I stayed active. I stayed distracted. I tried to act as though everything was okay. I prayed, and God heard me. Many nights, I stayed up until dawn, not wanting to go to sleep—because waking up meant starting all over again. I knew God was faithful, and I made it through, though there were many sad moments.

This past Christmas was different.

This Christmas was unexpectedly quiet, peaceful, simple—and joyful. I ordered only one gift for my daughter. I didn’t have the strength or desire for shopping, parties, or events. I didn’t want the memories. Instead, I loved talking with my readers, reading my Bible, decorating my home, and attending church to honor God in His house. I was thankful. I was grateful. I was still.

I asked for nothing. I gave myself permission to rest and to move quietly. I watched beautiful Christmas movies with family members and a couple of friends. I cooked my favorite foods and shared a small, quiet Christmas dinner. I had no small children or grandchildren waiting for Christmas morning. There were no events to plan, no rushing from place to place. There was only love—and raw honesty with God.

I prayed. I praised God. I loved Him for the gift of life. I noticed every kindness—those from people I knew and even from strangers passing by. I was living and worshiping in the Spirit, filled with gratitude. I remembered no sorrow, no loss, no pain.

Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

This time, I rested in the strength of the Lord. I felt something rare—peace, contentment, and joy. The heavy grief loosened its grip. I felt no pressure, no pull from the past, no fear of tomorrow. There was only stillness.

One evening after the holidays, I sat watching a comedy on television. I laughed. I felt present—fully whole in my spirit in that moment. Then, in the quiet, I sensed something deep within me. It wasn’t a loud voice, but a holy stillness that whispered:

“It is good to be still and at peace.”

In that moment, I knew God had carried me by His grace. The grief had been heavy, but He had given me His joy—a peace beyond understanding.

Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
“Be still, and know that I am God.”

God knew I could not do it on my own, so His Spirit took over. God is so good. There is no reason to carry so much grief and pain by yourself. Lay your burden down and give it to God.

I will not forsake or fail thee Joshua 1:5 KJV

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

I share this carefully, because I know how many are hurting deeply. Some need professional help. Some rely on medication. Some drink too much just to get through the night. This is not judgment. This is compassion.

Please hear this truth clearly: Jesus Christ is alive. He is grace and truth. You can trust Him in any situation.

1 Corinthians 2:12  KJV  “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Ask yourself gently:
Are you only a fan of Jesus—or a follower?

Obedience, paired with repentance, makes the difference.

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

May our living hope in Jesus Christ find you faithful, rested, and surrounded by His peace.

From a place of grace,

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-109That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-65Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
