Hello Thanks for Stopping By,
🎉 Join Us today for the 30-Day Spiritual Check-Up Challenge! Right Now and Right Here. 🎉
Today is the first day of the Kick Off, Get your paper, pens and your bible (for reference) as we embark on a spiritual journey to get refreshed and focus for 2025.
This December, we’re exploring into the powerful theme of Love and Truth—the foundation of our faith. Jesus said, “God is Love”, and He also declared, John 1:17 KJV “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
What better way to prepare our hearts for a new year than with short daily lessons that bring us closer to God?
Each day, we’ll explore a short Bible lesson in a conversational tone that reminds us of God’s love, truth, and the gift of reconciliation through Jesus Christ. As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, we’ll reflect on how His sacrifice leads us to repentance and abundant living in His grace. Let’s GO!
Main Scripture: “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.” (Proverbs 12:22 KJV)
Introduction
We often hear the phrase “It’s just a little white lie,” as though small falsehoods don’t matter. But the Bible teaches that all lies, no matter their size or intention, dishonor God. Love and truth go hand in hand, and even the smallest untruth can create distance between us and our Creator.
James 3:5-11 KJV 5Even so the tongue is a little member, and boast great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindle 6And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defile the whole body, and set on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Matthew 12:36 KJV 36But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Note: Only the Holy Spirit can control the tongue of a believer. Therefore, ask for his help in prayer. It is important to know scripture and repeat it often to feed the soul and keep it strong and holy.
Bible Story: Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)
Ananias and Sapphira sold a piece of land and claimed to give the entire proceeds to the apostles, but they secretly kept part of the money. Their deception cost them their lives. While this story may seem extreme, it highlights the seriousness of lying. God desires honesty and transparency, both with Him and with others.
Real-World Example
Think back to when you might have told a “white lie” to avoid embarrassment or conflict. Perhaps you exaggerated a story to impress someone or downplayed a mistake at work. These actions may seem minor, but they erode trust and set a pattern of dishonesty that can harm relationships and our integrity.
Jesus Christ embodies grace and truth (John 1:17 KJV). To walk in His light, we must strive for honesty in all areas of life. Repentance opens the door for God’s grace to cleanse us from sin, even sins we think are “small.”
1 John 2:4 KJV “He that saith, I know him, and keep not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
Reflection and Journal Questions
Do you have any need for repentance in conversations that were exaggerated or misleading, or just a lie? Did it hurt anyone? You could have said a lie that had consequences for others when you were a child and now you are an adult. What is the difference in your conversation then and now? Write it down. Jesus forgive sins that are in the past, present and future.
Action Steps
Reflect on your recent conversations—have you bent the truth?
Pray for forgiveness and strength to be truthful in all situations.
Commit to speaking in love and honesty, knowing God’s truth sets you free and be aware of your conversation for seven days straight and repent each time you are not totally truthful.
This will show you how often you may lie and not know it. Comment below and help others.
Here are three positive affirmation scriptures to encourage truthful speech, along with their affirmations:
- Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Affirmation:
“I speak words that uplift, encourage, and bring grace to everyone who hears me.” - Proverbs 12:22 (KJV)
“Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
Affirmation:
“I honor the Lord by speaking truthfully, and my honesty brings delight to Him.” - Psalm 19:14 (KJV)
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Affirmation:
“The words I speak and the thoughts I hold are pleasing to God, my strength and redeemer.”
These affirmations align with scripture, helping to encourage integrity and truth in speech.
Conclusion
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this December, let’s remember that He came to bring truth into the world. By living truthfully, we reflect His love and honor His sacrifice.
