Serve for God’s glory, not human applause.

Scripture: Mark 10:45 KJV — “The Son of man came … to minister.”

Bible Story

Jesus washed His disciples’ feet—the work of a servant—showing that true greatness is in humility, not recognition.

Sometimes you pour out your heart to help others, but no one says “thank you.” You work, give, and serve, yet it feels like people walk right past your effort. When you feel unseen or unappreciated, it can be discouraging—but God sees every single thing you do for Him. The Bible teaches that your service has eternal value, even when people overlook you.

Jesus: The Perfect Example of Serving with Joy

Jesus said plainly:
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.” (Mark 10:45 KJV)

Jesus—God in the flesh—served people who ignored Him, doubted Him, and even betrayed Him. Yet He kept serving because His purpose came from His Father, not from human praise.

Even when only one leper out of ten came back to thank Him (Luke 17:12–19 KJV), Jesus still healed all ten. Why? Because His service was driven by love, not applause.

Bible Story: Martha, Mary, and the Hidden Reward of Service

In Luke 10:38–42, KJV Martha worked hard preparing a meal for Jesus. She felt overwhelmed and unappreciated while Mary sat at His feet listening to His teaching. Martha finally cried out, asking Jesus to make Mary help her.

But Jesus reminded her gently that her worth was not in the approval of others. He saw her heart, her effort, and her desire to honor Him. Martha wasn’t wrong for serving—she simply needed to remember why she was serving.

God sees your work even when others don’t.

Your Hidden Labor Is Never Wasted

Hebrews 6:10 KJV  gives this powerful promise:  “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love.”

People may forget, but God never does. He keeps record of every prayer you prayed, every meal you cooked, every act of kindness you gave, and every burden you carried for someone else.

In Matthew 6:4 KJV, Jesus adds:  “…thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

That means God will bless you in ways no human could ever repay.

Why Serving With Joy Leads to Purpose

Joyful service rewires the heart. It keeps your spirit soft, your mind clear, and your purpose alive. When you serve with joy:

  • You stop needing human approval.

  • You become more like Jesus.

  • You discover gifts you didn’t know you had.

  • You open the door for God to trust you with more.

Jesus said: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”  (Luke 16:10 KJV)

When you serve well in small, unseen places, God prepares bigger assignments.

God Sees. God Remembers. God Rewards.

Even when you feel overlooked, you are not unseen. Heaven is watching. Your labor is building something eternal, and God promises to bless those who serve with a willing heart.

So keep serving with joy.
Not because people notice—
but because God notices.

Real-World Example

When a Sunday school teacher named Rhonda felt invisible, she prayed for renewed joy. She realized her teaching shaped future generations. Serving God became her joy, not her burden.

Reflection Question

Would you still serve faithfully if no one ever thanked you?
