Bible Story
Genesis 39 KJV, Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, but years later, when famine struck, he saved their lives instead of taking revenge. His love transformed betrayal into redemption.
Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery because they were jealous of him. He was taken far from home, wrongly accused in Egypt, and forgotten in prison. Yet through every hardship, God was shaping his character and preparing him for a greater purpose. The Bible says, “But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy” (Genesis 39:21 KJV). Even in dark places, God’s hand never left him.
Years later, when famine struck the land, Joseph rose to a place of great authority in Egypt. His brothers came to him for help, not knowing who he was. Instead of taking revenge, Joseph chose mercy. He told them, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good” (Genesis 50:20 KJV). His love turned their betrayal into redemption and saved their entire family from starvation.
Joseph’s story teaches us that God can take the deepest wounds and use them for good. It reminds us that forgiveness is stronger than revenge, and that God’s plan is always bigger than the harm others try to cause. Through Joseph, we see how love, grace, and obedience can turn brokenness into blessing.
Real-World Example
In her workplace, a woman named Joy faced constant criticism from a jealous coworker. Instead of retaliating, she prayed for the woman and continued to show kindness. Months later, that same coworker broke down and apologized. Love won where anger would have failed.
