Life can feel heavy—but you are not alone. The Bible says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18, KJV). Many struggles come from stress, loss, or trauma. Yet some storms also flow from the soul: not knowing God (missing the Holy Ghost), unforgiveness and hate, and unholy desires.

When people refuse God’s truth, Scripture warns, ““And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;””(Romans 1:28, KJV). “   A reprobate mind is a mind God has given over (rejected) because of ongoing sin and refusal to repent, leading to moral and spiritual ruin.”

The good news? Jesus brings peace and a new heart. “  30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:30-32, KJV). As we turn to Christ, He gives calm to the mind and love to the home  “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”(Philippians 4:6–7, KJV).

1) Missing the Holy Spirit (Not Knowing God)
Without Christ, hearts wander and minds feel empty. Confusion grows, and fear takes over. Jesus invites us to repent and believe “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;(Acts 3:19, KJV)”.

Ask Him to save you and fill you with the Holy Ghost  ” “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.(John 14:26, KJV). Begin daily prayer and a short Psalm each morning. God’s presence brings order, peace and hope.

2) Unforgiveness and Hate
Bitterness hardens the mind and hurts the body. It steals sleep and joy. God’s way is freeing: “forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you”(Ephesians 4:32, KJV). Forgiveness does not call sin “okay”; it hands the case to God. Pray, “Lord, I release this person to You.” Bless instead of curse. Watch anxiety lift.

3) Unholy Desires vs. Holy Fruit
The works of the flesh damage peace (Galatians 5:19–23, KJV).”19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

But the Holy Spirit grows love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance    (Galatians 5:22–23, KJV)22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. . Choose small, daily steps: turn off tempting media, set wise boundaries, and replace lies with Scripture truth.

4) Common Symptoms to Watch

  • Anxiety: racing thoughts, tight chest, poor sleep.

  • Depression: deep sadness, loss of interest, low energy.

  • Substance misuse: cravings, secrecy, using despite harm.
Use both faith and wisdom: pray, talk to a trusted believer, and seek a counselor or doctor when needed. God uses helpers.    “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14, KJV).

😍😍😍😍Reflection Question
What one burden—unbelief, bitterness, or desire—will you place in Jesus’ hands today?

Takeaway for ministry and care
Jesus rules the outer storm and the inner storm. He can bring a “great calm” to our hearts (Mark 4:39) and set people into their “right mind” (Mark 5:15). Alongside prayer and forgiveness, encourage practical helps: talk to a trusted friend, see a pastor or counselor, and, if needed, connect with local or national supports (e.g., NAMI). NAMI

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-109That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-65Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
