We live in a world where disobedience often looks small, harmless, or even justified. But God does not see it that way. The Bible warns us in 1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV): “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”

Disobedience may seem like a minor choice—skipping prayer, ignoring God’s Word, or choosing our way instead of His. Yet, it slowly pulls us out of God’s favor. Just like King Saul, who lost his crown because of rebellion, we too risk losing blessings, opportunities, and peace when we walk in stubbornness. The pain of being outside of God’s will is heavy—doors close, prayers seem unanswered, and life feels empty no matter how hard we try to fill it.

Matthew 5:16 (KJV) reminds us: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” You can’t shine if you’re stuck in the past.

God wants to guide you into better: Psalm 32:8-9 KJV says: “8I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. ” A stubborn heart invites sorrow, but a flexible, trusting heart receives mercy and joy (Psalm 32:10-11).

The Solution: Shine Anyway—Your Light Might Be the Only One They See
Jesus said to let your light shine. Not only when others are kind. Not only when people are watching. But especially when darkness tries to dominate.

That means you become the example. The peacekeeper. The truth-teller. The encourager. You don’t need a pulpit to be powerful. You are the shift. Not because you’re perfect—but because Christ in you is powerful and perfect.

You may not control the atmosphere, but you absolutely influence it. Walk in. Light it up. Even God changes his mind about his decisions.

Example: God’s Shift in Leadership Plan: Saul to David

God removed His favor from Saul and moved forward with David as king. This shift wasn’t because someone repented, but because Saul’s repeated disobedience required God to adjust leadership to protect the future of His people. It illustrates God’s sovereign flexibility in guiding history and using new vessels when old ones no longer serve His purpose.

1 Samuel 15:11 and 1 Samuel 16:1 (KJV)  1 Samuel 15:11: “It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king…” (Here, the word “repenteth” is used in KJV, but the emphasis is on God’s decision to change course.)

1 Samuel 16:1 KJV: “And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.”

Takeaway: Revival Might Start With You
Change doesn’t always come from the top. Sometimes, it starts with one faithful heart. You might be the only Bible some people read.

Let your life be loud.
Let your light be bold.
Let your love be the proof.
