Galatians 5:15 KJV “But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.”
Lesson: Anger blocks blessings. Forgiveness clears the way.
Holding on to anger doesn’t protect us—it poisons us. Anger can cause mental and emotional problems if we don’t let God help us forgive and heal. If you’re praying for blessings but holding anger in your heart, it might be the blockage. Jesus said to forgive others before asking God for help.
Bible Story: Jonah and the People of Nineveh
Jonah was a prophet. God told him to go warn the people of Nineveh to stop sinning. Jonah didn’t want to go because he didn’t like them. When Jonah finally obeyed and the people repented, God forgave them. Instead of being happy, Jonah got very angry. He sat alone, sulking under a tree. God had to remind Jonah that He loves everyone and wants all people to repent—not perish (Jonah 4:1–11, KJV).
In the story of Jonah, when Jonah disobeyed God by not warning the people of Nineveh, God sent a storm to get his attention.
Here’s what happened step-by-step
God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach to the people so they would repent.
Jonah disobeyed and ran in the opposite direction. He got on a ship going to Tarshish to flee from God’s presence (Jonah 1:3).
God sent a great storm that nearly broke the ship (Jonah 1:4).
The sailors were terrified. Jonah admitted he was running from God and told them to throw him into the sea (Jonah 1:12).
When they did, the sea became calm (Jonah 1:15).
Then, God prepared a great fish (often called a whale), and it swallowed Jonah (Jonah 1:17).
Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights (Jonah 1:17). During that time, he prayed and repented (Jonah 2).
God commanded the fish to spit Jonah out on dry land (Jonah 2:10), giving him another chance.
Lesson:
God disciplines us out of love—not to harm us, but to correct us. Jonah was angy and received a judgement for his disobiedence and anger but got a second chance, and so do we.
Hebrews 12:6 (KJV) says:
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
Scientific Case Studies:
1. The Harvard Health Study
Harvard Medical School reports that chronic anger can cause anxiety, depression, and heart problems. When people hold in anger, their stress hormones stay high, which damages the brain’s memory center (the hippocampus).

2. University of Wisconsin Study
A 2001 study found that people who practiced forgiveness had lower stress levels and fewer mental health problems. Forgiveness helped people sleep better, worry less, and even reduced PTSD in trauma survivors.

Bible Scriptures That Heal Anger:
Ephesians 4:26–27 (KJV) – “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”
→ Holding anger opens a door to the enemy.Proverbs 14:29 (KJV) – “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.”
→ Patience brings peace. Quick anger brings problems.Matthew 6:14–15 (KJV) – Jesus said, 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
→ Forgiveness is part of your healing and your salvation.
Reflection Question:
What anger are you still holding that could be blocking your healing, peace, or blessings?
Final Thought:
Anger doesn’t just hurt others—it hurts you. Jesus can take that anger, replace it with peace, and restore your joy. Trust Him. Let it go.

A CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
