Bible Verse: Anger Changes Your Brain Proverbs 25:28 KJV

Anger doesn’t just make you feel bad—it affects how your brain works. When you’re angry a lot, your body stays stressed. This stress can cause headaches, trouble sleeping, and even memory loss. King Saul in the Bible was once blessed by God, but his anger and jealousy toward David made him paranoid and unstable.

We are told in scripture to have a sound mind. God wants you to have peace—not confusion. You can train your brain by reading God’s Word and asking Him to help you calm down.

Scriptures:

Proverbs 25:28 KJV – “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

Romans 12:2  KJV – “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

2 Timothy 1:7  KJV – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Bible Story:
(1 Samuel 18 KJV) Saul let anger and fear take over his mind. He became so angry at David that he couldn’t think clearly and even tried to kill him.  Saul’s life shows how unchecked anger and fear can cloud judgment and lead to sinful actions. After David’s victory over Goliath, the women of Israel sang, “Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7, KJV).

Saul’s life shows how unchecked anger and fear can cloud judgment and lead to sinful actions. After David’s victory over Goliath, the women of Israel sang, “Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7, KJV). Instead of rejoicing in the nation’s victory, Saul became jealous and suspicious, thinking David would take his throne.

The Bible says, “And Saul eyed David from that day and forward” (1 Samuel 18:9 KJV). His fear turned to rage, and in a fit of anger, he hurled a javelin at David, seeking to kill him (1 Samuel 18:11  KJV). This hostility consumed Saul, leading him to hunt David for years. Saul’s downfall teaches us that when we let fear and anger dominate our hearts, we lose the ability to think clearly, make godly choices, and walk in love.

Real-World Example:
A woman kept reliving a hurtful argument. Over time, she lost joy and focus. Once she gave it to God and began praying daily, she felt peace return.

Reflection Question:
How has anger affected your thinking and peace of mind?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
