Pain Point: Do you feel distant from God and spiritually dry?   Solution: Repent and return—God will refresh your spirit.

Main Scripture:

Acts 3:19 KJV  Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”

Supporting Scriptures:

Psalm 51:12 KJV  – “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.””

Jeremiah 31:25 KJV  “For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”

Hosea 6:1 KJV  “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.”

Bible Story: The prodigal son left home and wasted everything. But when he repented, his father ran to him and restored him completely.

The story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11–32 (KJV) is a powerful picture of God’s mercy and restoration. A young man demanded his share of his father’s inheritance and left home, choosing a life of sin and waste. He squandered all he had on “riotous living” (Luke 15:13 KJV) until famine struck, and he found himself hungry, working in a pigpen, longing to eat the food meant for swine (Luke 15:14–16 KJV).

In that moment of brokenness, he “came to himself” (Luke 15:17KJV) and decided to return to his father, confessing his sin and unworthiness. But while he was still a great way off, his father saw him, had compassion, and ran to embrace him (Luke 15:20 KJV). Instead of condemnation, the father clothed him with the best robe, placed a ring on his hand, and put shoes on his feet—a sign of full restoration and sonship.

This parable shows that no matter how far we have wandered, true repentance brings complete forgiveness and restoration. God not only welcomes us back, but He runs to meet us with open arms.

Real-World Example: A woman stopped attending church for a year, feeling it no longer helped her as she struggled to cope with her brother’s death. One day, she prayed, repented, and began reading the Psalms—and her joy was restored. She returned to attending church.

Reflection Question: What’s stopping you from returning fully to God today?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
