Pain Point: Do you feel like you have to earn God’s love?  Solution: God’s grace is freely given—you don’t have to perform.

Main Scripture:

John 1:12 (KJV):  “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”   This verse  shows that our place as children of God comes from receiving Christ—not from our works.

Supporting Scriptures:

Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 11:6 KJV  – ““And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.””

Titus 3:5  KJV  – ““Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;””

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV) “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” —

****Remember, we work because we are saved—not to be saved or to earn salvation. We serve others, help one another, and teach the Gospel because we are saved and because we love each other. Just as a mother or father loves their newborn child—without the child doing anything to earn it—so we are loved as children of God. God is love and truth, and His grace is sufficient for us.

Bible Story: The Apostle Paul spoke of having a “thorn in the flesh,” a persistent trial or weakness that caused him great discomfort. Three times he pleaded with the Lord to take it away, but instead of removing it, God gave Paul a deeper truth to hold onto: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV).

This meant that Paul’s hardships were not signs of God’s absence, but opportunities for God’s power to shine through him. Rather than feeling defeated, Paul learned to rejoice in his weaknesses, knowing that they allowed the strength of Christ to rest upon him. In this, we are reminded that God does not always take away our struggles, but He always gives us enough grace to endure them and even grow stronger in faith.

Real-World Example: A woman constantly tried to prove her worth through serving. After burnout, she realized God loved her even in rest, not just in action.

Reflection Question: Where in your life are you striving instead of receiving God’s grace?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
