John 8: 12 KJV “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”.
Hello Truth Seekers:
I’m sitting here, sipping my coffee and gazing out the window. The light is shining so beautifully through the trees, and I can’t help but see life in many forms all around. It reminds me of the hymn, “Jesus is the Light of the World.” That light means so much more to me now.
Which brings me to this week’s topic: having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ—and sharing my personal testimony. Let’s talk about it.

Each morning, I spend devotional time with the Lord. I read the Bible, sing praise songs, pray, and talk to God like a friend. I also journal my thoughts—sometimes even writing down what I want to talk to Him about the next day, so I don’t forget. While I don’t hear an audible voice, He quickens my spirit and gives me experiences beyond words.
I’ve set aside a small corner in my bedroom for this sacred time. I’ve done this every single day for over six years. The more I do it, the more the fire grows. I look forward to it—it helps me teach better, pray more effectively, and walk in peace. I receive clarity, wisdom, and even help with daily tasks that feel too hard. The Lord truly orders my steps.
This time with God also helps me discern truth. I can spot a lie that’s dressed up to look good. That’s a real blessing as I get older and slower, life gets busy with financial commitments, family, or personal ministry.
Through the Holy Spirit, I’ve received dreams and visions that helped me repent for things I didn’t even realize were sin—even from childhood. Some sins seem small to us, but Satan uses them. Jesus covers us when we truly repent.
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
—1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (KJV)
I’ve been in church my whole life. I’m a Bible-based Southerner. Years ago, I had a blog called The Living Word Café. It was one scripture and a comic-style post each day. People loved it.
One day, while searching for a scripture at the library, I heard a voice I hadn’t heard in a long time. It was God.
He asked, “Why do you search the Bible for scripture? It tells you who I am. Why don’t you give yourself to Me?”
I was confused. I thought, I do! I went to church, served in the prayer ministry, raised my daughter in the faith, and had godly friends. I even had a popular Christian blog. But the voice repeated, “Why don’t you give yourself to Me?” I didn’t know what to say and all fell quiet.
An hour later in the library, I picked up a teaching psychology book. I open to a paragraph that stated parents often mistake providing for their kids as a substitute for quality time. It hit me. That’s what God was saying. He didn’t just want my service—He wanted me. My time, attention and service. He knew I had the faith and belief.
Many kids grow up to appreciate what their parents have done but often say, I didn’t know my father or mother or I don’t really remember them.
A preacher once said, “No matter what you do for God, you must spend time with Him.” Even recovery programs like AA, 12 steps and weight loss programs encourage 30 minutes a day in quiet reflection—many suggest journaling and talking to God to remove character defects.
I tried it with a diet plan once, and the Holy Spirit took over. Soon, that quiet time became my favorite time. It brought freedom. The light began to shine. I was no longer in bondage to bad habits. (for further reading: See past post: You can’t earn grace.)
Matthew 7:21-23 KJV 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Recently, I watched a YouTube video of an ex-witch who became a Christian. She said many Christians have no real relationship with God and don’t repent. Meanwhile, witches stay up until 4 a.m., worshipping and casting spells several days a week. They often gather together to support each other. She said that they’re serious about their relationship with Satan.
Wow! A question for you. How serious are you about your relationship with Jesus Christ?
Joshua 24:15 KJV “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Don’t be too busy for Jesus. Don’t just celebrate Him with Easter eggs and Christmas gifts. Include prayer with repentance, church, and spiritual moments with your loved ones. When I was growing up it was common for the family to watch an Easter movie about Christ.
Now we mostly watch the movie “Passion of Christ”, have communion as a family, and we REMEMBER the benefits of the cross together. There’s nothing pagan or dark about Christ. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know Him (For further reading:Communion).
Psalms 92:15 KJV “To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”
In closing, I want to encourage you to start a devotion time. It doesn’t have to look like mine. Just be consistent on the days you choose and build up. Include in your quiet time: praise, scripture reading, prayer with repentance and real conversation with God. Just start. The Holy Spirit will help you.
Position yourself as the person in the family that can cover others (especially your spouses, children and grandchildren) in prayer when they cannot cover themselves. The benefits are eternal, and it’s the one thing you’ll carry with you into the future.
