Modern-Day Story: The Church Parking Lot Showdown

Sister Denise had her parking spot. Not officially—but everyone in the church knew it was hers. One Sunday, Brother Curtis parked in it.

Denise smiled at him… but it was not a warm smile.

Next week, she “accidentally” unplugged his mic before choir rehearsal. Then came the lukewarm coffee she handed him, the “accidental” email reply-all about his off-key singing, and finally, her whisper to the usher: “You know Brother Curtis parks like he’s the mayor…”

What started with a parking spot turned into a petty parade, and the spirit of fellowship started crumbling—all over tick for tat.

Unique Bible Story: David Spares Saul (1 Samuel 24 KJV)

David had every reason to get revenge. King Saul took 3,000 chosen men out of Israel to chase David and his men through caves and wilderness, trying to kill David out of jealousy.

One day, David found Saul alone in a cave, covering his feet—vulnerable and unaware. David could’ve finished him off right there.

But instead, David just cut a piece of Saul’s robe. Later he gave the piece to Saul to let him know how close he had gotten to him and could have taken his life but he did not. Saul acknowledged this fact. Then he and David made peace and a trust to let it go.

📖 1 Samuel 24:12 KJV – “The Lord judge between me and thee, and the Lord avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.”

David chose mercy over payback. He trusted God to handle the injustice that Saul did to him. That’s strength. That’s leadership. That’s how you keep a kingdom from crumbling.

Remember, Jesus words on the cross as he gave his life for his believers.  Luke 23:34 KJV Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.  He could have said, “forget those people” but he did not. Aren’t you glad he did not? Even today, his love is available to you.  Easter, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ that reconnected us back to God with the forgiveness of sin.  Amen.
