Dear Readers,
In my time of reflection on hot social media discussions, I decided to address controversial topics and myths relating to Christianity and slavery because social media is on fire with this topic due to Black History Month .
Myth: Many are saying that Christianity was used to justify the Transatlantic Slave Trade and that Jesus is the white man’s God. They do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, died on the cross and resurrected to life to give salvation to all. They do not pray in Jesus name.
Satan and his workers know you must believe the very thing he wants you to disbelieve in order for you to live your life abundantly and free of evil. This is the reason you must not be in agreement with people who are not children of the light as they may convince you to lose your salvation with disbelief.
I want to explain with scripture, that the Bible was not written to support the cruel treatment of any human being. In fact, the scriptures show that God cares for freedom and justice. and Jesus Christ, a Jew, reunites all who believe (regardless of race) to God. Jesus was beat and died on a tree like a slave. Let’s talk about it.

Salvation for Christians and Believers in Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
Believers pray to God in Jesus name to be covered by the blood of Jesus that forgives sins. We are presented to God blameless.
1 Peter 2:24 KJV “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Salvation is offered to all who believe. Romans 1:16 KJV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Let’s take a look at when the Gospel-story of Jesus and his teachings. were written. The Gospel was written a long time before King James translated the complete bible into English. Therefore, this fact tells that the bible was not written to support the type of slavery that most African Americans suffered in the United States. That slavery was evil and against God’s will. That is why Atlanta and many southern cities were burned to the ground during the civil war that ended slavery
The King James Bible, commissioned in 1611, is a translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Masoretic Text, a standardized Hebrew text by Jewish scribes called the Masoretes. The Masoretic Text preserved the Hebrew Bible’s accuracy and vocalization system.
The below dates indicate that the Gospels were written between 35 to 70 years after Jesus’ crucifixion. The Gospels were based on oral tradition, eyewitness testimonies, and earlier written sources inspired by God. However, parts of the New Testament, like Paul’s letters (epistles), were written earlier, around 50-60 AD, making them some of the oldest Christian writings.
2 Timothy 3:16 KJV “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
The Gospel accounts were written over several decades following Jesus’ crucifixion, which occurred around 30-33 AD. Here are approximate dates for when each Gospel was written:
- Gospel of Mark – Around 66-70 AD, making it the earliest Gospel.
- Gospel of Matthew – Around 80-90 AD.
- Gospel of Luke – Around 80-90 AD.
- Gospel of John – Around 90-100 AD, making it the latest of the four.
As you can see, the Word of God existed way before the Atlantic Slavery Trade.
The Atlantic Slave Trade, which began in the early 1500s, was a man-made corruption of ancient servitude practices. It turned a system meant for temporary servitude into one of cruelty and oppression. Remember, Jesus came as a Galilean Jew born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth. His teachings remind us that salvation is for all—regardless of color or background.
The Atlantic Slave Trade (also known as the Transatlantic Slave Trade) was the forced transportation of millions of Africans to the Americas between the 15th and 18th centuries. It was one of history’s largest forced migrations and played a key role in the development of economies in the Americas, Europe, and Africa.
The Americas: Enslaved Africans were taken primarily to Brazil, the Caribbean, and North America to work on plantations growing sugar, tobacco, cotton, and coffee. Some slaves were paid for and some were not. Free blacks were often captured in the US if they came to the South. The South made it a law. They did so because they declared black people as not human beings. That was not of God but the result of Greed of man.
The Constitution of the United States:
The Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime ending slavery in the US 1865.
The Fourteen Amendment to the Constitution of the United States made slaves citizens in 1868 .
The Fifteen Amendment to the Constitution of the United States gave the right to vote 1870.
Slavery and the Bible
In ancient times, slavery was not based on race or punishment for being different. Rather, people became servants through capture in war or by an inability to pay debts. Skilled workers like doctors, nurses, and lawyers were among servants. The Apostle Paul even paid for a man’s freedom, showing respect for the law while also honoring God’s call for justice.

The true message of the Bible speaks of fair treatment, prosperity, and love for the servant or slave and the owner.
Jeremiah 34:14 (KJV) “At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.”
This verse refers to God’s command regarding Hebrew servants. According to the Law of Moses, after six years of servitude, Hebrew slaves were to be set free in the seventh year with land and generosity of the increase during his years of labor.
Jeremiah 34:15-17 (KJV) 15And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbor; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name: 16But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
17Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbor: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. Many slave places were burned down.
God demanded that servants be set free after seven years and not sent away empty handed.
Deuteronomy 15:12 12And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee. 13And when thou send him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty: 14Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him. 15And thou shalt remember that thou was a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
However, God rebukes the people of Judah because their ancestors ignored this command and continued to keep their fellow Hebrews in bondage, violating His covenant. This passage highlights God’s desire for justice and fair treatment of all people and serves as a reminder that failing to obey His laws leads to consequences.
Let us read and study the Bible with open hearts, so we may not be tricked by those who manipulate religion and spread untrue myths for selfish gains and mind control. God’s word calls us to freedom, equality, and love. Stay close to His truth. God does not change.
Matthew 22: 35-40 KJV 35Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Revelation 1:8 KJV “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
Matthew 22:29 KJV “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.”
