Pride is dangerous. It can make people think they are better than others, ignore wise advice, claim they never do anything wrong, and even turn away from God. The Bible warns that pride leads to destruction, while humility brings wisdom.

Three Scriptures on Pride and Its Consequences:

Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) – “Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

James 4:6 (KJV)“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he said, God resisted the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

Proverbs 29:23 (KJV)“A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.”

Bible Story: King Nebuchadnezzar’s Pride and Fall (Daniel 4)

King Nebuchadnezzar ruled Babylon with great power. He became proud and thought he was greater than God. One day, he stood on his palace rooftop and said, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built… by the might of my power?” (Daniel 4:30). At that moment, God humbled him. He lost his mind and lived like a wild animal in the woods until he acknowledged God’s power. When he repented, God restored him.

Lesson: No matter how powerful a person is, pride can lead to downfall. Humility before God brings restoration.

Real-World Example: The Fall of a Famous Athlete

A famous athlete was known for his talent, but he became prideful, refused coaching, and mocked his opponents. Over time, his bad attitude led to poor performance, team conflicts, and eventually, he was removed from the team. Only after realizing his mistakes did he rebuild his career with humility.

Reflection Question:

Have you ever ignored advice because of pride? How did it affect you, and what can you learn from it?

CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
