Daily Inspiration: Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
by Admin · Published · Updated
Have you ever faced a tough time and wondered, “Why is this happening to me?” Maybe people laughed at your faith, or you lost something important because you chose to do what is right. The Bible tells us that as followers of Christ, we will face challenges, but we should not think it is strange.
Expect the Trials, But Don’t Fear Them
1 Peter 4:12 (KJV) says, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you.” This means that trouble is part of the Christian walk. It is not a mistake, and it does not mean that God has forgotten you. Jesus Himself suffered rejection, pain, and even death. If we are His followers, we should expect to go through some hardships too.
Rejoice in Suffering for Christ
Instead of being sad or angry when hard times come, the Bible tells us to rejoice! Rejoice in Trials: You Are Not Alone. “But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy” (1 Peter 4:13 KJV). When we go through trials for the sake of Jesus, we are sharing in His suffering. But just as Jesus was victorious, we will be victorious too! One day, when He returns in glory, we will celebrate with Him.
God’s Spirit Rests Upon You
1 Peter 4:14 (KJV) says, “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God rest upon you.” This means that if people insult you because of your faith, you are blessed. Why? Because God’s Spirit is with you. His presence gives you strength, peace, and hope even in difficult times.
Make Sure You Suffer for the Right Reasons
While trials will come, the Bible warns us not to suffer for doing wrong. 1 Peter 4:15 (KJV) says, “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” In other words, if we face trouble because of bad choices—stealing, hurting others, or gossiping—that is not suffering for Christ. But if we suffer for standing up for truth, living righteously, and sharing God’s Word, then we are honoring Him.
Final Encouragement
Hard times will come, but they will not last forever. Jesus promised in John 16:33 (KJV), “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Stay strong, keep your faith, and remember—every trial you go through for Christ will bring you closer to Him and to the reward He has prepared for you!
