Letter From the Editor’s Desk: God’s Way: Fight the Good Fight with Faith and Action
Hello Family,
This week has been a whirlwind, building on the momentum of the one before it. Israel reached a ceasefire agreement with Gaza, ending a season of war. Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States—a historic comeback. Whether you voted for Trump or not, you must admire his fight for the office and how he never waivered and neither did his supporters.
Meanwhile, in the South, ice storms made their rare and delightful appearance, bringing joy to children and adults alike.
The Lord is moving, and when God moves, great energy in faith always precedes. Jesus often asked before healing someone “Do you think I am able to do it?”
Personally, I hold a deep interest in African Americans receiving reparations, particularly because of the generations affected by wrongful deaths, stolen land, and a legacy of injustice. Land, in itself, can provide stability and generational wealth.
Imagine the difference it could have made if families didn’t have to pay rent—many children might not have become wards of the state. The slander and systemic destruction endured by our community over centuries are beyond outrageous.
Reparations with an apology won’t erase the past, but it could help families heal, rebuild, and reclaim a sense of wholeness through God’s grace. America could move forward undivided. That would be a blessing in itself.
Yet, some feel the fight is too big and prefer to leave it all to God. But I ask, how do you think God works? Satan opposes Believers at every turn and does not want us to receive what God has in store unless it involves stealing, killing, or destroying. We cannot let fear or pride hold us back.
God calls us to participate in His plans through action. God didn’t promise an easy road, but He does promise victory. There is always a fight because Satan doesn’t want God’s people to thrive. Let’s talk about it.
Matthew 7:7 KJV “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
Life can often feel like a battlefield. When challenges come, it’s tempting to pray, “God, take this problem away,” and then sit back, expecting everything to miraculously fix itself. While God is all-powerful and can work miracles, He often chooses to involve us in the solution. This is where faith meets action.
Take, for example, Martin Luther King Jr. He didn’t just pray for civil rights and equality—he stepped out in faith and showed up for the fight. Through marches, speeches, and persistence, God gave him the victory to change the course of history. MLK’s journey teaches us that fighting the good fight involves both prayer and action.
The Bible also gives us a clear example of this in the story of Deborah and Barak (Judges 4-1-24 KJV ). God told Barak to lead the Israelites to victory over their oppressors, but he doubted. Barak insisted that Deborah, a prophetess, go with him.
Because of his hesitation, God gave the honor of victory to a woman, Jael, who defeated the enemy general. This story reminds us that when God calls us to act, we must trust Him and obey, even when it feels overwhelming.
James 2:17 KJV says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” Faith without action is incomplete. If you want a better job, God will do it. First, He may see the need to provide the opportunity for training, developing connections, or additional resources—if you’re willing to step out in faith.
If you want peace in your family, God may ask you to forgive or reach out first. Always remember Believers are saved by faith not works. We work because we are saved not to get saved. Believers works are considered our “duty of service”. It is how we help each other and spread the word of God.
Remember Philippians 4:13 KJV : “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” God equips us to do our part in the fight, whether it’s standing up for what’s right, seeking new opportunities, or trusting His timing.
Reflect on this: Are you waiting for God to act, or are you stepping out in faith, ready to be part of the solution? As 1 Timothy 6:12 KJV says, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life.” Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep showing up for the battles God calls you to face.
What area of your life is God asking you to step out in faith and fight the good fight?
