Gentleness is often misunderstood as weakness, but the Bible shows us that gentleness is a great strength. It helps us build better relationships, communicate effectively, and live in peace with others. When we choose gentleness, we reflect the love of Christ and grow in the fruit of the Spirit. We extend this to children as well.  Remember, children grow up to be adults.

What is Gentleness?
Gentleness is the ability to respond with kindness and patience, even in difficult situations. It doesn’t mean being a pushover but choosing humility and love over harshness.

Proverbs 15:1 KJV reminds us: “A soft answer turns away wrath.” Gentle words can calm anger and prevent arguments.

Matthew 18:6 KJV  “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Gentleness in Relationships
Strong relationships are built on trust and understanding, and gentleness is key to both. Jesus said in Matthew 5:5 KJV, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” Being meek, or gentle, doesn’t mean letting others take advantage of you—it means having the strength to control your emotions and respond with grace. Gentleness invites others to feel safe and respected.

Gentleness in Communication
Gentle communication starts with listening and speaking in love. When we focus on understanding others, we strengthen our bonds with them. Colossians 3:13 KJV says: “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another.” This verse reminds us to practice patience and forgiveness, even when it’s hard.

How to Cultivate Gentleness
Pray for a Gentle Spirit
Ask God to help you respond with kindness and humility.

Pause Before Responding
Take a moment to think about your words and tone before speaking.

Practice Forgiveness
Let go of grudges and extend grace to others, just as God forgives us.

Reflection Question:
How can you show gentleness in your words and actions today?

By choosing gentleness, you can strengthen your relationships, communicate effectively, and reflect the love of Christ in all you do. Let gentleness be your strength for building bonds in 2025!

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
