God’s Perfect Love Casts Out Fear: Understanding 1 John 4:15-21 KJV
The Bible tells us about God’s perfect love in 1 John 4:15-21. Let’s break it down so everyone can understand it easily.
1 John 4:18 KJV “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear hath torment. He that fear is not made perfect in love.”
1 John 4: 15-21 KJV 15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love cast out fear: because fear hath torment. He that fear is not made perfect in love. 19We love him, because he first loved us. 20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
The Bible tells us about God’s perfect love in 1 John 4:15-21. Let’s break it down so everyone can understand it easily.
Confessing Jesus (Verse 15): If we say that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in us, and we live in God. This is very important because believing in Jesus connects us directly to God’s love.
God Is Love (Verse 16): We know and believe that God loves us. The Bible says, “God is love.” When we live in love, we live in God, and God lives in us. This means that God’s love is always with us, guiding and protecting us.
Perfect Love (Verse 17): God’s love is perfect. Because of His perfect love, we can be bold and confident, even on the day of judgment. We are like Jesus in this world, full of love and courage.
No Fear in Love (Verse 18): There is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear because fear involves punishment. If we are afraid, it means we have not fully understood or accepted God’s perfect love.
God’s Initiative (Verse 19): We love God because He loved us first. God’s love is always there, reaching out to us even before we know Him.
Loving Others (Verses 20-21): If someone says they love God but hate their brother or sister, they are lying. We can’t truly love God, whom we haven’t seen, if we don’t love the people around us. God commands us to love others if we love Him.
Bible Story Example: The story of Jesus calming the storm (Mark 4:35-41) is a great example of God’s perfect love casting out fear. Jesus and His disciples were on a boat when a huge storm arose. The disciples were terrified, but Jesus was asleep. They woke Him, and He calmed the storm with His words, saying, “Peace, be still.” Jesus then asked His disciples why they were afraid and if they had no faith. This story shows that with Jesus, there is no need for fear. His perfect love and power are always with us, even in the scariest times.
In conclusion, 1 John 4:15-21 teaches us that God’s love is perfect and it drives out fear. When we believe in Jesus, love God, and love others, we can live boldly and without fear, knowing that God’s love surrounds us always.
