Matthew 16:24 (KJV): “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

📖 Bible Story Summary:
Before Jesus died for our sins, He was forced to carry a heavy wooden cross through the streets of Jerusalem. Later, He would be crucified on that very cross—just like other criminals sentenced to death. People laughed at Him, hurt Him, and shouted cruel things. Yet, He kept walking.
That cross was where He would be nailed and die—but He did it out of love, to save us. Jesus didn’t run away. He showed what it means to be brave and faithful, even when it’s hard. We must surrender our lives to Jesus and follow
Him by obeying His Word. It may not always be easy, but this is the calling of every true believer. If you are called to be a teacher, preacher, cook etc.. Whatever your purpose in life in serving God or to be used by God to help others, that can be your cross because you may want to do something else. We all are apart of God’s plan.
When Jesus called the disciples, He simply said, “Follow me.” They left everything behind—jobs, homes, and families—to walk with Him. They didn’t worry about material things. Jesus Himself didn’t own a house. He was homeless, but not truly without. He always had what He needed. When He was hungry in the wilderness, angels came and fed Him.

Remember what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV):
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Jesus was and is predestined. He knew exactly what He had to endure in order to complete the work of the cross. His mission was to bring salvation—the forgiveness of sins—and reconnect us back to God. People were deeply sinful then, and God had turned away. But Jesus came to save the world, to bring reconciliation, and to open the door back to God’s presence.
Jesus is our Savior. He is the Word made flesh.
John 1:1 KJV “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 KJV “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
Acts 4:12 KJV “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
🌍 Real World Example:
Carrying your cross today doesn’t mean picking up wood—it means making good choices for Jesus, even when they’re hard. For example, if your friends are doing wrong and you choose to do what’s right, you’re carrying your cross. If you forgive someone who hurt you, you’re following Jesus. It’s not always easy, but it brings peace, love, and eternal life.
💬 Reflection Question:
What is one thing you can let go of today to follow Jesus better? What is one thing you must do to follow Jesus? Surrender.

John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
