Deuteronomy 5:33 KJV
“Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.”  Psalms 119:11 KJV:  “Thy word have I hidden in mine heart: that I might not sin against thee.”

The Ten Commandments were given to Moses on Mt. Sinai.  He wrote the commandments himself on a tablet-rock. (Old Testament).  When Jesus walked the earth,  He did not dismiss the commandments.  He fulfilled them and summed them up in perfect love—love for God and love for people.

When we love God first and love others well, we naturally honor the Ten Commandments from the heart.  Jesus also tied love to obedience: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15 KJV). The apostles taught the same truth. Paul wrote that love is the fulfilling of the law (Romans 13:8–10). John said, “This is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” (1 John 5:3). James called

When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus summed up the whole law in two clear parts:

  1. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, might and strength.

  2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Then He said, “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37–40).

History of the Ten Commandments:  Moses led Israel to Mount Sinai. God came down on the mountain with thunder, lightning, and a cloud, and the people stood at the base in awe (Exodus 19). God called Moses up the mountain to meet with Him. There, God gave His law—the Ten Commandments—teaching the people to love and honor God and to treat others right (Exodus 20:1–17 KJV). God wrote these words on two stone tablets with His “finger” (Exodus 31:18).  Mount Sinai, also known as Mount Horeb, is a mountain range located in the southern Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

After being in the Mountains 40 Days and 40 Nights, the people thought Moses was not coming back so they had Aaron to make them a Gold Calf and they worship it as God.  That is idolatery.  God said they make things with their own hands and call it a God.   When Moses returned from the Mountain, he saw the idolatery and false worship and crashed the tablets out of anger.

God told Moses anyone over 21 years old would not cross over to the promise land. Moses did not cross over.  However, in the New Testament, He reappears from Heaven with Abraham to Jesus and before the disciples.
