Colossians 1:20 (KJV)  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

22In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Ephesians 2:16  KJV  16And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

 17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Romans 12:15-21  KJV  15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

 17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

 19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

 20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

John 16:33 KJV  “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Bible Story: After the resurrection, Jesus greeted fearful disciples with “Peace be unto you.” Peace came before performance.

Peace is not future tense. It was declared at Calvary.

The cross reconciled enemies to God.

Peace Was Settled at the Cross

Peace with God is not something believers must chase in the future.

It was already declared through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

When Jesus died on the cross at Calvary, He removed the wall that separated humanity from God.

The Bible says, “Having made peace through the blood of his cross” (Colossians 1:20, KJV). This shows that peace is not based on human effort but on Christ’s finished work.

Because of sin, people were once called enemies of God. Yet through the cross, reconciliation became possible.

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son” (Romans 5:10, KJV).

This truth brings comfort. Peace with God is not earned by perfect behavior. It is received by faith in what Jesus has already done.

After the resurrection, the disciples were hiding behind closed doors. They were afraid of punishment and unsure about their future.

Suddenly, Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be unto you” (John 20:19, KJV). Notice the order.

He did not first correct them for running away. He gave them peace before giving them purpose.

He even showed them His wounded hands and side so they would understand the price that secured their peace.

This story teaches a deep spiritual principle. Reconciliation with God comes first. When the heart is at peace with Him, it becomes easier to walk in peace with others.

Ephesians 2:14  KJV  reminds believers, “For he is our peace.” Unity is built on Christ’s victory, not on human promises or strength.

Today, believers can rest in this finished work. Peace is not a distant reward.

It is a present gift flowing from Calvary, shaping relationships, calming fears, and guiding daily life in Christ.

Reconciliation is spiritual first, relational second.

Unity rests on what Christ did—not what we promise to do.

Reflection Question

Are you striving for peace—or resting in the peace already given?
