Devotional

Fear-driven obedience feels heavy. Love-driven obedience feels different.

Many people obey God because they fear punishment. But Jesus said obedience flows from love. When grace enters the heart, motives shift.

In Luke 7 KJV, the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with tears loved much because she had been forgiven much. Her obedience was not forced—it was gratitude.

From a counseling perspective, behavior that flows from internal love is sustainable. Behavior driven by fear eventually collapses. Grace rewires the heart.

When you know you are loved, obedience becomes worship—not pressure.

Reflection Question

Is your obedience rooted in fear—or in love?
