Introduction:

When you look in the mirror, who do you see? Do you see someone striving to reflect the image of Jesus Christ? As Christians, we are called to be like Christ, not just in words but in actions, thoughts, and character. This Bible study will explore how repentance, a personal relationship with God, and the fruits of the Spirit help us mirror Jesus to the world.

Genesis 1:26  KJV  “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creep  upon the earth.”

Key Scripture:

  • 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV): “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
  • Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV): “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
  • Matthew 5:16 (KJV): “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Bible Story:

The story of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10 KJV) demonstrates the transformation that comes through repentance and a relationship with Jesus. Zacchaeus, a tax collector known for his dishonesty, climbed a tree just to see Jesus. When Jesus called him down, Zacchaeus repented, offering to restore what he had taken and give to the poor. His life was changed because he encountered Jesus and chose to mirror His character.

Real-World Example:

Imagine a coworker who is often negative and critical. Instead of reacting the same way, you choose to show love, patience, and kindness. Over time, your actions begin to influence others, and even your coworker notices the peace and joy in your life. This is how reflecting Christ’s image can impact those around you.

Reflection Question:

How can you reflect the image of Jesus in your daily interactions, especially with those who are challenging to love?

Action Steps to Be More Like Christ:

  1. Build a personal relationship with God through prayer and Bible study.
    • Spend time daily in prayer and read scriptures that guide your actions and attitudes.
    • Meditate on the Word of God, asking the Holy Spirit to help you apply it to your life.
  2. Repent and turn away from sin.
    • Identify areas in your life that don’t align with Christ’s teachings.
    • Confess your sins to God, ask for forgiveness, and strive to change.
  3. Develop the fruits of the Spirit.
    • Focus on one fruit each week. For example, practice patience by waiting without complaint, even in frustrating situations.
    • Ask the Holy Spirit to grow these fruits in your life.
  4. Be intentional in your actions.
    • Before responding to someone, ask yourself, “Does this reflect Christ’s love?”
    • Look for opportunities to serve others, showing the humility of Jesus.
  5. Surround yourself with Christ-centered community.

Attend church, join Bible study groups, and connect with other believers who encourage your walk with God.

Reflection Question:  How can you reflect the image of Jesus in your daily interactions, especially with those who are challenging to love?

Conclusion:
Becoming like Jesus isn’t a one-time event—it’s a daily journey of repentance, relationship, and spiritual growth. When we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, we reflect His love, grace, and truth to the world. So, the next time you look in the mirror, ask yourself: Am I reflecting the image of Christ today

CALL TO SALVATION:

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
