Letter From the Editor’s Desk: The Importance of Presenting Yourself to God Holy and Clean

In the Old Testament, God gave the Israelites many laws about cleanliness, including laws about washing, bathing, and disposing of waste. These laws were not just about physical hygiene, but also about spiritual purity. God wanted His people to be clean and holy, both inside and out.

In the New Testament, Jesus also spoke about the importance of cleanliness. He criticized the Pharisees for being clean on the outside but unclean on the inside. He told them that it was more important to be clean in heart than to be clean in body.

So, what does the Bible say about cleanliness in relation to holiness? It says that cleanliness is important, but it is not the only thing that matters. Holiness is about more than just physical cleanliness. It is also about a pure heart and a right spirit.

Here are some Bible verses that speak to the importance of cleanliness in relation to holiness:

  • Isaiah 1:18-20) KJV ” 18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it..”
  • Psalms 51:10 KJV  “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

  • 1 John 1:9-10 KJV 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
  • 2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV  “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

These verses teach us that cleanliness is important, but it is not the only thing that matters. We must also cleanse ourselves from sin and impurity in our hearts and spirits. When we do this, we can become holy people who are pleasing to God.

Peace be with you,

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
