Letter From the Editor’s Desk: Watchers, Monitoring Spirits, and Technology Robbing Destinies
Hello Truth Seekers and Believers,
The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8-10 (KJV), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour…” This means the enemy is always watching for an open door to attack our faith, joy, and purpose. I had a personal experience that blew my mind and I am still not quite over it so I decided to tell you about it. It is real. Lets talk about it.
First, watchers can come in two forms: physical or spiritual.
In the spirit realm — through what the Bible calls watchers or monitoring spirits.
In the physical realm — through technology, friends, and even our own careless words.

What Are Monitoring Spirits?
Monitoring spirits are part of the enemy’s network. In Job 1:7 (KJV), Satan admits he goes “to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it,” looking for whom he can destroy. They observe you, listen to your conversations, and then report back to demonic forces so they can delay, hijack, or block what God is doing in your life. This is why Isaiah 8:19 (KJV) warns us not to seek the dead or familiar spirits for guidance.
Isaiah 8:19 KJV “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?”
How Technology Can Be Used Against You
Just as in Bible times watchers could hide in shadows, today’s watchers can also use technology—phones, computers, cars, trackers, even “smart” devices. A friend who has given place to the enemy might listen, then tell others what you are planning. Demonic forces can use this information to bring confusion, destroy relationships, hinder ministries, and stop businesses or goals before they start.
Colossians 2:20 (KJV) reminds us that as believers, we are “dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world.” That means we don’t live under the control of the world’s systems, including spiritual traps set through technology.
Testamony:
Last year, I had an unusual experience at a local discount store that I’ve never shared until now. I was shopping and picked up a jar of pickles that was on clearance. I always check for expiration dates, but this jar had none. I turned it upside down and rolled it around many times as it could be written in glass and hard to see. That struck me as odd. It was a small jar but heavy. I put it in my cart along with a few other items-something I never do without a buy by date.
At checkout, something strange happened. As I placed my items on the counter, the pickle jar rolled off the counter on the cashier side—but instead of hitting the floor, it somehow midway bounced back onto the counter by itself. I froze in disbelief, but the cashier acted as if it was nothing out of the ordinary. He quietly removed the jar, without looking at it, and set it aside.
Curious, I asked, “Why can’t I buy that?” He simply replied, “It’s expired,” and pointed to a big black printed date on the side of the jar. Yet I knew for certain that date hadn’t been there before. He stayed calm as if nothing unusual had happened, smiling as usual. He was always very friendly and helpful when I shopped at the store. He would tell me what was coming in home decor specials the next week that I would like. He was handsome too. I knew God was showing me something.
That moment was a wake-up call. The Lord let me see behind the surface—reminding me that not everything we encounter is as ordinary as it looks. Some people live comfortably around spiritual forces that are not of God. In many cultures, these spirits are accepted, even welcomed, as part of life. But the Bible warns us to test the spirits (1 John 4:1 KJV) and to stay watchful (1 Peter 5:8 KJV).
1 John 4:1 KJV 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
The reason I did not find the expiration date and decided to buy the pickles anyway (out of character) was the Holy Spirit confirmation that the incident was not my imagination. I am thankful that Jesus is my protector and my guide. He is predestined. I am thankful that I am a praying woman and know the Lord.
We can’t always see what kind of influences people allow into their lives, which is why prayer and discernment are so important. As for me, I’m a simple, down-home believer in Jesus Christ—and I only want what comes from Him.
That said, we also need to be wise in the natural. Technology—phones, computers, TVs, and even tracking devices—can be used for both good and evil. We’ve all seen the news reports where criminals misuse these tools to harm others. Protect yourself by making sure your devices have proper security software. A lot of software is free.
I also spent time listening to podcasts and YouTube teachings from pastors who spoke on these issues. Over time, I’ve listed below a list of sign to watch for when it comes to monitoring spirits. Being informed, both spiritually and practically, helps us stay alert and covered under God’s protection.
Have you ever experienced something that reminded you there is more happening in the unseen world than meets the eye? Share in the comments below so others may be encouraged.
Signs You May Be Watched
Unusual smells in your home or space
A sense that someone is “around” when you’re alone
Seeing quick shadows move in your peripheral vision
Sudden, strange interruptions when you’re working or praying
Unexplained delays in answered prayers or open doors
These signs are not to bring fear but awareness.
How to Stop Monitoring Spirits
Prayer & Fasting – Jesus taught that some battles can only be won through prayer and fasting. This strengthens your spiritual sensitivity and weakens the enemy’s hold.
Plead the Blood of Jesus – Speak out loud, “I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, my home, my family, my work, and my calling.”
Bind the Enemy’s Eyes, Ears, and Mouths – Pray that God blinds their sight, closes their ears, and confuses their plans.
Guard Your Words – Daniel 14:33 (KJV) shows how a faithful man’s prayer brought supernatural help. Don’t tell the enemy what God is doing in your life. Satan can’t read your mind—he learns from what you say.
Live by the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-26 (KJV) reminds us to walk in the fruit of the Spirit, which keeps us in God’s protection and out of the enemy’s traps.
Final Encouragement
We are in a real spiritual war, but we fight from a position of victory. Jesus has already overcome the enemy. The enemy may try to watch, but when you walk in wisdom, prayer, and the covering of the Holy Spirit, his plans will fail.
Stay alert, stay prayerful, and stay under the blood of Jesus.
May Our Living Hope in Jesus Christ find you faithful,
