“I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me.”
Hello Family,
During my devotion this morning, I came across a scripture that truly stood out, especially in light of recent events. Just last week, several pastors were in the news, and my social media feeds have been flooded with videos of people boldly proclaiming their identity as being God, stating “I Am God”.
One man told another, he is his Jesus. It made me reflect on a serious misconception—many believe the only way to be rejected by God is by blaspheming the Holy Spirit, but another dangerous way is claiming to be God or equal to God.
There is only one God, and we are not Him. Yet, many today—whether through self-help teachings, spiritual deception, or even misinterpretations of Scripture—believe that humans can elevate themselves to divine status.
Even more concerning, there are cults, organizations, illegal governments, and gangs that teach their followers that certain individuals should be worshiped as God and even called by name, God. We even see rappers and entertainers adopting God’s name as part of their stage personas, using it for fame instead of reverence.
Well, there is a point of no return explained in the book of Ezekiel . Let’s talk about it.
There is a dangerous deception in the world today—one that has been whispered since the beginning of time. It is the lie that humans are equal to God. Some claim that because we are called “children of God,” we therefore must share in His divine status. But what does the Bible actually say?
Jesus was crucified because He called God His Father, making Himself equal to God—something that, under Jewish law, was punishable by death (John 5:18 KJV). But for us, claiming to be equal with God is not just a misunderstanding—it is blasphemy.
****The Pharisees and religious leaders of Jesus’ time understood one thing: if Jesus was who He claimed to be, then He was truly God in the flesh. But rather than believing Him, they accused Him of blasphemy and sought to kill Him:
John 5:18 KJV
“For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.”
****Author note: Jesus healed people on the Sabbath and those actions were considered works, thereby according to the Judges, Jesus was breaking the Sabbath law.
They rejected Jesus because they refused to accept that God had come down in the flesh. Ironically, they condemned Jesus for claiming what was true, while they themselves wanted to rule over others as if they were gods.
Even today, we see leaders, influencers, and false teachers exalting themselves above God—preaching that humans are divine, that we control our own destiny, and that we have no need for repentance. But the judgment that fell upon the Pharisees will fall upon all who reject Christ and elevate themselves.
Blasphemy is the very sin that led to Satan’s downfall. Satan thought he would be equal to God. He accused God’s people day and night of one thing of another. We are to walk together in love so people will know we are his disciples and not working for Satan..
(Isaiah 14:12-14 KJV) 12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
We see this same prideful deception in history and modern culture. How many leaders, celebrities, and influencers have claimed to be “gods” in their own right, only to fall into disgrace, destruction, or even death?
Consider ancient Rome—a powerful empire that worshiped its rulers as gods. They demanded worship, built temples in their honor, and exalted themselves. But Rome fell. No earthly power, no self-proclaimed “divine” ruler, and no human-built kingdom can stand against the true and living God.
Today, self-help movements, new age spirituality, and false religions tell people they are their own gods. The scripture states that are many that are called Gods. Some call statues God-thing they have made with their own hands.
Satan Masquerades as an Angel of Light 2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” This verse warns us that Satan deceives by appearing as something good and holy. False teachings, misleading spiritual movements, and deceptive leaders may seem righteous but lead people away from God’s truth.
Matthew 24:23-24 KJV
“Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Luke 17:23-24 KJV
“And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighten out of the one part under heaven, shine unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.” Author’s note: Jesus return will come from the heavens
Matthew 24:4-5 KJV 4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
1 Corinthians 8:5-6 KJV 5For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Didn’t the bible state that men are God’s?
In Psalm 82, God is speaking to human judges and rulers whom He appointed to execute justice. These leaders had authority over others and were called “gods” (Elohim) in a figurative sense because they acted as representatives of God’s justice on earth.
However, these rulers became corrupt, and God rebuked them, reminding them that they were still mortal men who would die like any other human (Psalm 82:7 KJV).
John 10:34-35 KJV 34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemes; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
Jesus refers to this passage not to elevate humans to divine status, but to make a logical argument:
If the Scriptures called human judges ‘gods’ because they received God’s Word and had earthly authority, then why is it blasphemy for Jesus—the One truly set apart and sent by the Father—to say He is the Son of God?
- Unlike those rulers, Jesus is not just a representative of God—He is God in the flesh.
- Isaiah 45:5 KJV
“I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me. - “1 Timothy 2:5 KJV
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” -
John 1:14 KJV “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
- John 1:10 KJV 10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Colossians 2:9-10 (KJV):
“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”
The phrase “Godhead bodily” refers to the fullness of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost dwelling in Jesus Christ. This divine completeness established Him as the head over all principalities and powers. As the Son of God, Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, yet He was also the embodiment of the Godhead in the flesh—fully containing the Father, the Word (Son), and the Holy Spirit.
I have been asked this question many times, so I will address it here: Can God be a woman?
According to the King James Bible, the living God—whom believers have a personal relationship with through the Holy Spirit—is revealed as male. John 4:24 (KJV) states, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Though God is a Spirit, He has chosen to manifest Himself in a masculine form throughout scripture. Jesus Christ is the visible representation of God, and man was created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27 KJV). When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He said, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name” (Matthew 6:9 KJV).
This reinforces that God has revealed Himself as our Father, not as a mother or a genderless being.
Acts 4:12 KJV Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved – Jesus Christ.
****Anyone Who Claims to Be God or Calls Themselves “I AM” Faces Judgment
Ezekiel 28:2 KJV (About the King of Tyre, a representation of Satan’s pride)
“Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God… yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God.”
Ezekiel 28:6-8 KJV
“Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.”
