Hello Truth Seekers,
As I sit at my desk, sipping my coffee, I can’t help but appreciate the beautiful Georgia weather. With the time change bringing longer daylight hours, I’ve been thinking about starting a small spice garden. That thought led me to remember a former coworker who often brought flowers from her garden to work.
They were stunning—vibrant, fragrant, and full of life. I never smelled roses that smelled liked nice perfume.
Then I recalled something she once said that struck me as simple yet deeply wise.
She had the most beautiful garden in her neighborhood, winning the Best Yard contest year after year. She poured her heart into tending every flower and blade of grass. One day, another co-worker asked, “How do you get your flowers to grow so beautifully?”
She smiled and said, “I remove what’s blocking them from growing, and they do what they were created to do.”
Boom. Mic drop. That was it. That summed up everything. Let’s talk about it.
Isn’t that the truth about our lives? We are created perfectly, designed by God’s hands (Psalm 139:14 KJV), and meant to flourish. But instead of growing naturally, we often struggle, push, and work ourselves into frustration, wondering why things aren’t falling into place.
Psalms 139:14KJV “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
The answer? We don’t remove the blockages.
What’s Blocking Your Growth?
Think about it. Why do we get stuck spiritually? Why do we hit the same walls over and over again? Let’s take a look at some of the biggest spiritual weeds that choke our growth.
1. The Wrong Attitude – Skills Will Take You Where Your Character Can’t Keep You
Ever seen someone who is super talented but can’t keep a job? Or a person who is book-smart but lacks wisdom? Sometimes, our pride (Proverbs 16:18 KJV), stubbornness, or refusal to learn keeps us from moving forward. The Bible says, “A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent” (Proverbs 15:5, KJV). Maybe it’s not that God isn’t opening doors—it’s that we don’t have the character to walk through them properly.
2. Lack of Biblical Knowledge – You Err Not Knowing the Scriptures
Jesus told the Pharisees, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29, KJV). Imagine trying to bake a cake without knowing the recipe. You’d probably end up with a mess. The same goes for life. If we don’t know God’s Word, how can we expect to grow? The Bible gives wisdom, discernment, and clear direction (Psalm 119:105 KJV), but we have to open it!
3. Disobedience and Lack of Love – The Holy Spirit Guides, But Are You Listening?
We often pray, “Lord, show me the way!” But then, when He does, we ignore Him. The Holy Spirit is our Counselor (John 14:26 KJV), but if we’re too busy reacting instead of reflecting.
4. Sin and not repenting – Speaking Against God and Influencing Others in the Wrong Way
This one stings a little. We don’t like to talk about sin, but it’s real. The Bible says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13, KJV). Sin creates barriers between us and God (Isaiah 59:2 KJV). And worse, when we influence others negatively, we’re not just blocking our own growth—we’re blocking theirs too.
Successful People vs. Spiritually Successful People
Now, let’s talk about something my mother used to say: “You never know how people get what they have.”
In today’s world, that’s truer than ever. We see people winning in business, driving luxury cars, and living in mansions. But here’s the thing—not everyone tells the price they paid to get there. Some stepped on people, some compromised their integrity, and some got there through means they wouldn’t dare confess.
My father told me as a child, “Just because someone is rich doesn’t mean they are smart, nice, or intelligent. It just means they have money.” And let’s be real—if someone was a selfish person before they got money, they’ll be even more selfish after. If they were dishonest, wealth won’t fix that—it will amplify it.
But what about you? What’s inside of you? When you remove the blockages, you won’t have to pretend to be honest—you’ll be honest. You won’t have to act like you have integrity—you’ll have integrity.
God’s Priorities Are Different Than The World’s
God wants you to have everything you need (Philippians 4:19 KJV), but He’s more concerned with your soul than your bank account. When you grow spiritually, your priorities shift. You won’t feel the need to chase success—because you’ll already be fulfilled. You’ll know that your joy, peace, and security come from God, not material things.
Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) reminds us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Psalms 84:11 KJV “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Proverbs 16:3 KJV “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
That means God’s plan is already set—He’s just waiting on you to remove the blockages so you can step into it.
Final Thoughts: Get Out of Your Own Way
So, dear reader, let’s be like that gardener. Let’s pull the weeds, remove the blockages, and allow God to grow us into who we were meant to be. The Christian walk isn’t about struggling to make things happen—it’s about removing what’s in the way of God’s already perfect design.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14, KJV). Now, let’s clear the path and let the real you shine through.

A CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
