A Short Bible Study on Ephesians 4:31-32 KJV & Galatians 5:16 (KJV) : The Ultimate Spring Cleaning for Your Heart
Lent is all about letting it go—letting go of distractions, bad habits, and, most importantly, unforgiveness. As we prepare for Easter, we remember that Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could hold grudges like expired milk in the back of the fridge. 🙅♂️
Think about it—if Jesus forgave the people who crucified Him (Luke 23:34 KJV), shouldn’t we be able to forgive that one family member who still owes us money? 🤨 Or the coworker who “forgot” to give us credit for our idea?
Unforgiveness is like wearing last year’s outdated fashion—it just doesn’t look good anymore. So, it’s time to clean out our hearts and make room for the Holy Spirit!
Ephesians 4:31-32 (KJV) – “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Galatians 5:16 (KJV) – “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

Why Holding Grudges is a Spiritual Mess
1️⃣ It Weighs You Down – Grudges are like carrying a heavy suitcase of bitterness. Jesus wants us traveling light (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV).
2️⃣ It Blocks Your Blessings – Jesus said that if we don’t forgive, our own prayers might be hindered (Mark 11:25 KJV). Who wants that?
3️⃣ It’s Not Holy Spirit Approved – The fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). But a grudge? That’s more like the fruit of “petty”. 🍋
How to Drop the Grudge & Walk in the Spirit
✅ Step 1: Pray About It – Tell God exactly how you feel. He can handle your honesty. (Philippians 4:6-7 KJV)
✅ Step 2: Replace Bitterness with Kindness – Treat the person better than they deserve, just like God treats us. (Romans 12:17-18 KJV)
✅ Step 3: Focus on Walking in the Spirit – The more we focus on God’s love, the less energy we waste replaying old offenses like a bad TV rerun. (Galatians 5:16 KJV)
Reflection Question
Is there someone you need to forgive today? What’s stopping you from letting it go and walking in freedom?
🔥 Final Thought:
Life is too short and eternity is too long to waste time holding grudges. If Jesus forgave those who nailed Him to a cross, surely we can forgive that person who took our parking spot at church! 🚗💨 Let it go, friend—because holding grudges is SO last season! 😆🙌
