Big idea: Walking in the Spirit is daily, simple, and powerful. God helps us do it.

Life can feel loud and confusing. But God gave us a simple path: walk in the Spirit. The Bible says, “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16, KJV). This lesson shows easy, daily steps that any believer can practice. You do not have to be perfect. You just need a willing heart and faith in Jesus.

This lesson is friendly, clear, and practical. You will see how small choices—like a short prayer, a kind word, or time in Scripture—can change your day. As you practice these ten steps, expect fruit: stronger faith, better choices, and a heart ready to love others.  Let’s begin together, step by step, trusting that the Holy Spirit will lead, teach, and keep us. God is with you, and He will help you walk in His Spirit today.

Jesus is our perfect example. He walked the walk and talked the talk. He taught the Gospel—even on the sabbath—served people with love, and trained His disciples to reach the world. When temptation came, He answered with Scripture and said, “Get thee behind me, Satan” (Matthew 16:23, KJV). If we follow His pattern, we grow in peace, power, and purpose.

1) Pray without ceasing
Talk to God often—short prayers all day. Add thanks and repentance. Prayer opens doors.
KJV: “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

2) Acknowledge, trust, and believe in Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God and our Savior. Trust Him for life now and forever.
KJV: “For God so loved the world… that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

3) Learn, memorize, and study the Word
God’s Word shows truth and power. Read, repeat, and remember it.
KJV: “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29)

4) Obey God
Love God and others. Keep His commands with a willing heart.
KJV: “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God… which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments.” (Deuteronomy 7:9)

5) Depend on the Holy Spirit
Listen for His leading. Do not grieve Him with sin or stubbornness.
KJV: “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God.” (Ephesians 4:30)

6) Fellowship
Meet, pray, and learn with believers. We grow stronger together.
KJV: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

7) Praise
Praise lifts faith and shifts focus from problems to God.
KJV: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)

8) Love
Love is the proof of a Spirit-led life. Choose kindness, mercy, and patience.
KJV: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another.” (John 13:34)

9) Share the Gospel to bear fruit
Tell others about Jesus. Fruit grows when we abide in Him.
KJV: “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit.” (John 15:8)

10) Service—Charity
Serve with humble love. Use your gifts to help others.
KJV: “By love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)

How Jesus Walked in the Spirit (Expanded)

  • He walked the walk and talked the talk.
Jesus didn’t just speak truth—He lived it in front of the disciples so they could follow His steps.
KJV: “Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.” (1 Peter 2:21)

  • He taught the Gospel even on the sabbath.
Jesus honored the sabbath by teaching God’s Word and setting people free.
KJV: “And… on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.” (Mark 1:21)

  • He was led by the Spirit in all things.
From the wilderness to daily ministry, Jesus followed the Spirit’s leading and answered with Scripture.
KJV: “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost… was led by the Spirit.” (Luke 4:1)

  • He bore fruit by choosing and developing disciples.
Jesus selected the Twelve, spent time with them, and trained them to continue His mission.
KJV: “He called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.” (Luke 6:13)

  • He gave His disciples power and a clear command.
Jesus empowered them to preach, heal, and make more disciples so the Church would spread worldwide.
KJV: “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority… and he sent them to preach the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:1–2)
See also: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19–20)

  • He corrected fleshly thinking: “Get thee behind me, Satan.”
Jesus rejected man’s plan and chose the Father’s will.
KJV: “Get thee behind me, Satan… thou savourest not the things that be of God.” (Matthew 16:23)

  • He modeled prayer and service.
Jesus prayed early and went about doing good in the Spirit’s power.
KJV: “And in the morning… he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” (Mark 1:35)

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
