Introduction: Being a single parent comes with its own set of challenges, and the burden of sin can make the journey even more difficult. Whether it’s struggling with personal sins or facing the consequences of past mistakes, breaking free from the power of sin is crucial for single parents to lead fulfilling lives and provide a stable environment for their children. The scripture listed below explores bible verses to overcome sin and be a better single parent, drawing strength and wisdom from biblical teachings.

2 Corinthians 12:14  KJV  “Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.”

Proverbs 22:6 KJV  “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Ephesians 6:4 KJV  ¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. ²Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) ³That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. ⁴And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 10:5 LKV  “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

• 1 John 1:9 (KJV) – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Confessing our sins to God is the first step in breaking free from their power. By acknowledging our mistakes and seeking forgiveness, we open the door to healing and transformation.

• Romans 6:14 (KJV) – “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” As single parents, we are not bound by the power of sin. Through God’s grace, we have the strength to resist temptation and live according to His will.

• Philippians 4:13 (KJV) – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” This verse reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. With God’s strength, we can break free from the power of sin and be the best single parents we can be.

• Deuteronomy 11:18-21 KJV  ¹⁸Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. ¹⁹And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. ²⁰And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates: ²¹That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
