ePrayer Room: Finding Peace: It’s OK to Feel Not OK

Sometimes, life doesn’t go as we planned. We feel disappointed, let down, or frustrated. It’s important to remember that these feelings are normal, and it’s okay to feel them. But how do we move past them when we can’t solve the problem or change our feelings? Let’s explore this with some wisdom from the Bible.

Bible Story: Joseph and His Brothers

Joseph was one of Jacob’s twelve sons and was loved by his father. However, his brothers were jealous and sold him into slavery. Joseph ended up in Egypt, faced many hardships, and was even thrown into prison. Despite all this, Joseph remained faithful to God. Eventually, he was made a ruler in Egypt and was able to save his family during a famine. Joseph’s story teaches us that even when things seem bad for a long time, God has a plan for us.

Scriptures for Support

  1. Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” This verse reminds us that God can bring good out of any situation, even when we can’t see it right away.
  2. Philippians 4:6-7: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” When we are worried or upset, we can pray and ask God for peace.
  3. Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Trusting God means believing that He is in control, even when things don’t make sense to us.

Moving Past Disappointment

It’s okay to feel sad or frustrated when things don’t go our way. These feelings are a part of life. What’s important is how we deal with them. We can talk to God about our feelings and trust Him to help us through tough times. It’s also helpful to focus on the positive things in our lives and remember the times when God has helped us before. This is the perfect time to sing praise songs to restore your soul, read your bible or call a friend. If necessay, call a professional. Healing is available. In most cases, just be still and refocus.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
