Short Bible Study for Lent and Easter (Philippians 4:6 & Luke 6:37)

Key Scriptures (KJV):
Philippians 4:6 KJV– “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Luke 6:37  KJV– “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”

During Lent, we prepare our hearts for Easter. It’s a time to repent—turn away from sin—and grow closer to Jesus. Lent reminds us that holiness starts with letting go of fear, worry, and judgment. Easter celebrates Jesus rising from the dead, showing us that new life is possible when we trust God.

John 1:17 KJV  “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Bible Story: The Woman Caught in Sin (John 8:1–11 KJV)
The Pharisees brought a woman to Jesus who had sinned. They wanted her punished by stoning her to death for having sex outside of marriage. They claimed The Law required it.

But Jesus said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” One by one, they walked away. Jesus forgave her and told her to sin no more. That’s the heart of Lent—repent and be forgiven.

Real World Example:
Imagine someone at work made a mistake. Instead of judging, you pray for them and offer help. That’s choosing grace over anger. It’s holy, and it brings peace to everyone.

What We Learn:
God doesn’t want us to worry. He wants us to pray. He doesn’t want us to hold grudges. He wants us to forgive. When we do that, we are walking in holiness, just like Jesus.

Reflection Question:
What can you stop worrying about today and start praying over instead?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
