Do Not Get Use to Disappointing Yourself: Get on Your Own Team With Jesus
Have you ever felt like you’re always letting yourself down? Maybe you set goals but never reach them, or make promises to yourself that you don’t keep. It’s easy to get used to this feeling and think it’s normal. But it’s time to change that mindset and start supporting yourself. Let’s look at what the Bible says and how you can get on your own team.
First, let’s remember what Philippians 4:13 KJV says: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse reminds us that with God’s help, we can achieve our goals. Isaiah 41:10 KJV also tells us, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.” God is always with us, helping us to succeed.
Think about Sarah. She wanted to lose weight for years but kept giving up. One day, she decided to trust God and lean on His strength. She started small, walking 15 minutes a day and praying for guidance. Slowly, she saw changes and reached her goal. By trusting in God and not giving up, she stopped disappointing herself.
Another example is James, who wanted to start his own business. He was afraid of failure and didn’t believe in himself. He read Proverbs 16:3 KJV : “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” James prayed and committed his plans to God. He took small steps, and with God’s guidance, his business started to grow.
Isaiah 40:31 KJV says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” Waiting on God and trusting His timing is key. Romans 8:28 KJV also assures us that “all things work together for good to those who love God.” Even when things don’t go as planned, God has a purpose for us.
When we trust in God, as Proverbs 3:5 KJV advises, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,” we can overcome disappointments. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV gives us hope: “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
So, how can you get on your own team? Start by trusting God and setting small, achievable goals. Pray for strength and guidance. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Remember, with God, all things are possible.
