The Gospel consists of the four books in the New Testament that gives the teachings of Jesus Christ, written by John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew.
Overview of the Gospel of Mark:
Mark “Mark John” is also known as “John” in the Book of Acts. He is not John the Baptist. Peter (disciple) was a mentor to Mark. Mark did not walk with Jesus but ministered under Peter. Peter called Mark, his son. Mark’s work was written in Italy around A.D. 50-70 before the Book of Acts. Mark’s work is referred to as the “Memoirs of Peter” because he was very close to the disciple Peter and listen to everything Peter said. The Gospel of Luke borrowed a lot of Mark’s notes.
The Gospel of Mark focuses on the miracles that Jesus performed while spreading his ministry in Galilee. Mark’s Gospel emphasizes Jesus Christ’s human nature, emotions, and limitations. *Note: This side of Jesus demonstrates that there aren’t any human conditions that he is not aware of and therefore his believers can know that he understands our problems and situations.

Summary of lesson eleven and lesson twelve
This chapter tells of a fulfilling of a prophecy about Jesus Christ, Money Changers, the role of the church, the fig tree (bearing fruit). He explains in order to receive from God, you must forgive others.
From the Old Testament, before Jesus’ birth, it was prophesized by Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”
Jesus seriously expects his creations to produce good fruit (physical and/or spiritual). Matthew 3:10 “And now also the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” Note: Parents are held responsible for how they raise their children. If your child is in danger of hell fire, there may be accountability.
Jesus establishes the main role of the church: A house of prayer. Newer translated bibles state, “A house of prayer and worship”.
24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 25And when ye stand praying, forgive if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
This chapter tells of a parable about a vineyard and Jesus being a cornerstone. Jesus permits believers to pay government taxes. In addition, Jesus explains there is no marriage in heaven. Believers are as the angels. Jesus states God is the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac. Jesus gives the two greatest commandments that all the laws of the prophets hang. Jesus tells of the evil works of the scribes in their hypocrisy that will make them receive damnation. Jesus accepts and praises a widows pennies because she gave all she had and not out of abundance. Therefore, she gave the most.
Note: The husbandmen over the vineyards were symbolic for the chief priests and elders, and the son that was killed represented Jesus in this parable. The Cornerstone is the stone that will anchor a building. Back then, when building a building, great effort was spent looking for that stone that would anchor the building, other stones were rejected. Jesus represents the “chief cornerstone”. The stone which the builders did not reject becomes the stone that holds everything up.
Note: Jesus states God is the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Noting the old prophets are still alive even though they are no longer in the world because God is a God of the living-eternal life. There is no death with God. All believers are made the seed of Abraham by faith. This name of God emphasizes the covenant that God made with Israel and the Israelites’ special place as God’s chosen people.

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
