Daily Word: The Power of Prayer: Transforming the Present, Shaping the Future

Prayer is not just a routine or a religious obligation; it’s a powerful tool that can transform our lives and shape our future. When we pray, we communicate with God, and He, in turn, responds to our prayers according to our faith. It’s essential to pray for each other, as our prayers can bring about positive changes in the lives of those we pray for.  One more important thing to pray is to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in prayer and into repentance.  We must pray in spirit and truth. The Holy Spirit is the perfect worshipper. He makes intercessory prayers on the behalf of the believers.  When we pray in Jesus name. We are saved.

Romans 10:13 KJV  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 8:26 KJV “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

One of the key teachings in the Bible is to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV). This doesn’t mean we should be on our knees 24/7 but rather that we should maintain a constant attitude of prayer, always seeking God’s guidance and presence in our lives.

Another important aspect of prayer is fasting. Fasting helps us focus our minds and hearts on God, allowing us to draw closer to Him. When we combine prayer with fasting, we demonstrate our dependence on God and our willingness to submit to His will.  We should pray over our food because God will bless it to nourish our bodies and not to harm us. He will also give you a thought that you are not to eat it.

The Bible is full of stories that illustrate the power of prayer. One such story is found in 2 Chronicles 20 KJV, where the people of Judah were facing a vast army. Instead of panicking, they prayed to God for help. God answered their prayer by sending angels to fight their enemies. When the people woke up the next morning, they found their enemies defeated, all without them lifting a finger.

Another powerful story is found in Exodus 9-1 KJV , where Moses repeatedly asked Pharaoh to let the Israelites go so they could worship God. Through prayer and perseverance, Moses was able to lead the Israelites out of slavery and into freedom, demonstrating the transformative power of prayer.

Exodus 9:1 KJV “Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.”

Reflective Question: Can you think of a time a prayer was answered that transformed your life and shaped your future?  How much time do you spend in prayer daily? How much time do you spend in worship?  Do you attend the house of the Lord to pray and worship?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
