🩹 Pain Point: Confusing Wants for Needs : Always Wanting More
Have you ever felt like you’re always chasing something? A better job, newer car or truck, more money, a bigger house, a new relationship? That constant craving creates worry, jealousy, and disappointment. It can also lead to sin.
When we confuse wants for needs, we get anxious, disappointed, and angry with God. We may even fall into sin trying to “get what we want.”
📖 Main Verse:
Psalm 23:1 (KJV) – “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJV) – “ 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
**Covetousness is when we crave what others have (others spouse, houses, cars, money etc.) and get it by deceit, stealing, nurdering or taking. That’s a form of “want” the Bible warns us about. Many have soul their souls to Satan for “want”.
1 Corinthians 10:20-23 KJV 20But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. 22Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
Eventhou the Lord may say it is ok to have, **There are somethings you should not want as a believer. You should not be a material boy or girl. Moses was a very humble man and the most powerful in his time. Jesus walked with a humble spirit and within him was all the Godheads: Father, Son and the Holy ghost. Jesus called us “Friends”.
Colossians 2:6-12 KJV 6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

🌿 Big Idea:
When we live in “want”, we are saying God isn’t enough. But when we trust Him, we stop chasing things that don’t matter—and we find peace in what we really need.
🌱 Distinction Between Wanting and Needing (Biblical View):
Let’s be clear. Wanting and needing are not the same.
Need = Something necessary for living or following God’s purpose
(Example: food, a safe place to live, health, direction).Want = A craving for something outside of what God is giving right now—often based in pride, fear, or comparison.
✅ You may need to relocate for safety or health. That’s wise.
❌ But if you say, “I want a mansion like they have,” and it consumes your mind—that’s a want rooted in envy.

✅ Solution: Plan, But Trust God
It’s okay to want better—but God wants to lead you, not for you to chase after “things.”
Stay honest with God. Tell Him your real needs. Make a plan with prayer. Trust Him to supply in His time.
God expects you to pray, plan, and prepare, but not be ruled by the flesh. He promises to guide your steps.
Psalms 32:8 KJV “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Hebrews 4:16 KJV “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Proverbs 16:3 – Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Is what I’m asking God for truly a need—or just something I want to feel important, accepted, or better than someone else?
✨ Final Thought:
“Want” becomes sin when it pushes God out of your heart. But when you seek the Kingdom of God first, everything you need will come in God’s time. Let your Shepherd lead—and you’ll never be without what really matters
