Pain Point: Do you find yourself making excuses instead of changing?

Solution: God calls us to do what’s right, not just know what’s right.

Main Scripture:
“To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” —James 4:17 (KJV)

Supporting Scriptures:

Luke 6:46 KJV– “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

Romans 2:13 KJV – “Not the hearers… but the doers of the law shall be justified.”

John 14:15 KJV – “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Bible Story: Jonah knew what was right—go to Nineveh—but ran the other way. After facing the storm, he obeyed, and God used him to save a whole city.

The story of Jonah is a clear example of how running from God’s call leads to trouble, but obedience brings life and restoration. God commanded Jonah, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it-their wickness has rose up before me” (Jonah 1:2, KJV), but Jonah fled in the opposite direction toward Tarshish because he did not want to warn Nineveh to repent. His disobedience brought a great storm that threatened the ship he was on.

After being thrown into the sea and swallowed by a great fish, Jonah prayed from the depths, repented, and was given a second chance (Jonah 2:1–10 KJV). This time he obeyed, preaching God’s message, and the people of Nineveh believed, fasted, and turned from their evil ways. As a result, “God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not” (Jonah 3:10, KJV). Jonah’s story reminds us that even when we resist, God can still use us to accomplish His will if we repent and obey.

Real-World Example: A man ignored God’s call to forgive his brother. But after a sermon convicted him, he made peace—and their family healed.

Reflection Question: What good thing do you know you should be doing but haven’t started?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
