A Short Bible Study on John 1:9 KJV & Matthew 5:6 (KJV) : A Lent Diet That Lasts!
Lent is that time of year when many people give up chocolate, coffee, meat, bread, alcohol, cigarettes, gluten or social media for 40 days until Easter to refresh their relationship with God, but let’s be honest—some of us are just counting down the days until we can feast again. 🍕😆
But what about our spiritual diet? Easter is all about Jesus, the Bread of Life, and the question we should ask ourselves is: What are we feeding our souls? Are we feasting on God’s Word or snacking on junk food for the mind (like gossip, negativity, and endless social media scrolling)?
John 1:9 (KJV) – “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
Matthew 5:6 (KJV) – “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

What’s On Your Spiritual Plate?
🥦 God’s Word = The Superfood of the Soul – Just like our bodies need real nourishment, our spirits need the truth of the Bible to grow strong (Psalm 119:105 KJV).
🍔 Spiritual Junk Food = Empty Calories – Bingeing on gossip, negativity, and worldly distractions might feel good for a moment, but it won’t sustain us (Romans 12:2 KJV).
🥤 Jesus = The Living Water – When we drink deeply from His presence, we stay spiritually hydrated, avoiding the dehydration of stress and worry (John 4:14 KJV).
How to Change Your Spiritual Diet
✅ Step 1: Cut Out Spiritual Junk Food – If it’s not drawing you closer to God, it’s just spiritual fast food. (1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV)
✅ Step 2: Feast on the Word Daily – Instead of scrolling social media first thing in the morning, try scrolling through Scripture. (Psalm 34:8 KJV)
✅ Step 3: Stay Hungry for Righteousness – Just like you wouldn’t eat once a week and expect to be strong, don’t expect Sunday-only faith to sustain you. Feed your spirit daily! (Matthew 4:4 KJV)
Reflection Question
What are you feeding your soul? Is it drawing you closer to God, or is it just empty calories?
🔥 Final Thought:
If you are what you eat, then what’s fueling your faith? Are you living on God’s Word, or are you surviving on a spiritual diet of memes and reality TV? 🍟😅 Choose wisely—your soul is counting on it! 🙌✨

A CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
