Bible Study: Understanding John 16:13 (KJV)

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

This verse teaches that the Holy Spirit, referred to as the Spirit of Truth, guides believers into the truth of God’s Word and reveals God’s will. The Holy Spirit does not act independently but communicates what He hears from God, ensuring His guidance aligns with divine truth. This is why believers are able to know things that they know they do not know and know things of the future. Remember, God does not gossip and everything is accordance to the word of God.

Illustration from the Bible

In Acts 8:26-40 KJV, the Holy Spirit guided Philip to meet the Ethiopian eunuch. The Spirit instructed Philip to approach the eunuch’s chariot, where he found the man reading Isaiah. Philip, led by the Spirit, explained the scripture, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The eunuch believed, was baptized, and rejoiced. This story highlights how the Holy Spirit leads believers to truth and opportunities to glorify God.
