Seeking God’s Face: How Humility, Repentance, Love, and Earnest Prayer Unlock God’s Forgiveness and Healing

God promises forgiveness and healing when we approach Him with sincere repentance. This means turning away from wickedness and living in righteousness. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV), God says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” This verse shows us that God is ready to forgive and restore us, but it requires a true commitment to change and righteousness.

Turning from Wicked Ways: A Genuine Commitment to Change

To experience God’s forgiveness and healing, we must turn from our sinful ways. We cannot make excuses for bad behavior or hide behind self-righteousness. God knows our hearts, and we must come to Him in spirit and truth. John 4:24 (KJV) says, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” We may fool others, but we cannot deceive God. True repentance means taking responsibility for our actions and seeking to live according to God’s will.

Three Scriptures on Coming in Truth and Spirit:

  1. Psalm 51:17 (KJV): “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
This verse highlights the need for humility and genuine repentance when coming to God.
  2. Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV): “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
God desires that we seek Him earnestly, without holding back or pretending.
  3. Romans 2:11 (KJV): “For there is no respect of persons with God.”
This reminds us that God shows no favoritism. He sees all people equally and calls us all to accountability.

Call to Return: Confession and Commitment

1 John 1:9 (KJV):  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

We are called to return to God and confess our sins, acknowledging our shortcomings. When we come to Him in humility, God is faithful to forgive us. As we seek His grace and mercy, we must also make a commitment to praise and honor Him in all we do. God is ready to restore us, but it starts with our choice to turn back to Him.

In summary, seeking God’s face requires a heart of repentance and a sincere desire to live righteously. Let us turn from our wicked ways, approach God with humility, and trust in His promise of forgiveness and healing.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
