Reconciliation begins when hostility ends.
Scripture reminds us we were once enemies of God. Yet Christ reconciled us.
2 Corinthians 5:18 (KJV) says He has given believers “the ministry of reconciliation.”
This means followers of Christ are called to build bridges, not walls.
A clear Bible example is found in the story of Joseph in Genesis. His brothers once hated and betrayed him, selling him into slavery.
Years later, God raised Joseph to leadership in Egypt. When famine came, his brothers stood before him in need. Instead of revenge,
Joseph chose mercy. He forgave them, provided food, and welcomed them to live safely with him. Enemies were restored as family.
From a counseling view, reconciliation reshapes identity and behavior.
When people understand they are forgiven and accepted by God, they become more willing to forgive others.
Hostility often grows from fear, shame, or hurt. Healing begins when truth replaces these feelings.
Scripture reminds believers that love, humility, and grace are stronger than past conflict.
In Christ, broken relationships can be renewed, and former enemies can truly become family.
Counseling research shows forgiveness reduces stress and improves long-term emotional health.
Christ did not wait for us to improve. He reconciled us while we were enemies.
If God reconciled enemies, so can we.
