Black History Month is a time of remembrance, honor, and gratitude. It is also a time to reflect on God’s decrees—His spoken will and promises—and how He has always worked to bring His people through suffering and into freedom.
Psalm 100:5 (KJV)
“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

Throughout the Bible, God shows that He does not forget His people. When the children of Israel were enslaved in Egypt, God heard their cries. He remembered His covenant, and He moved with power. The book of Exodus shows us a God who breaks chains, opens seas, and leads His people into freedom. Their suffering was real, but so was God’s deliverance.
Many people throughout history, including Black Americans, have faced deep pain, injustice, and loss—much like the Jewish people did in Egypt and in other trials across time. Yet God’s pattern remains the same. He allows seasons, but He also decrees freedom, restoration, and hope. He pulls His people through, not around the pain, but through it.
God rejoices in remembrance. In Scripture, remembrance is not just looking back—it is honoring what God has done and declaring that His power still works today. Jesus Himself said to break bread and drink wine in remembrance of Him. Remembrance carries power because it strengthens faith and keeps truth alive in every generation.
In that same spirit, February was declared Black History Month. We celebrate not just history, but endurance, faith, creativity, courage, and survival. We celebrate a people who prayed, worshiped, sang, built, believed, and trusted God through hardship.

The Bible reminds us:
Psalm 100:5 (KJV)
“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
God’s truth did not stop in the past. It endures to this generation and the next. As we remember, we rejoice—because the same God who delivered then is still delivering now.
Reflection Question:
How has remembering God’s faithfulness in history strengthened your faith today?
Closing Thought:
Remembering is worship. Celebration is faith. And freedom has always been part of God’s plan.

Romans 10:9-109That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-65Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
