Main Scripture
Exodus 20:8-11 KJV 8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Psalms 116:7 KJV “Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.”

Bible Story:
Elijah’s Burnout — Summary of 1 Kings 19 (KJV )
In 1 Kings 19 KJV, Elijah experiences deep burnout right after a major spiritual victory. He has just defeated the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, proving that the LORD is the true God. Instead of feeling strong and encouraged, Elijah becomes exhausted, afraid, and overwhelmed.
When Queen Jezebel threatens to kill him, Elijah runs for his life into the wilderness. There, he collapses under a juniper tree and prays to die, saying, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life” (1 Kings 19:4 KJV). This moment shows that even God’s faithful servants can feel drained after intense spiritual work.
God’s response is gentle and practical. An angel wakes Elijah, gives him food and water, and tells him to rest—twice. This shows that Elijah’s burnout was not only spiritual but also physical and emotional. After resting, Elijah travels forty days to Mount Horeb (Sinai).
At the mountain, Elijah pours out his feelings to God, saying he feels alone and believes he is the only one left faithful. God reveals Himself not in strong wind, earthquake, or fire, but in a still small voice. This teaches that God often speaks quietly, especially to worn-out hearts.
God then corrects Elijah’s thinking. He tells Elijah that 7,000 people in Israel have not bowed to Baal—Elijah is not alone. God gives him new instructions and a renewed purpose, including preparing the next generation of leadership (Elisha).
Key Lesson:
Elijah’s burnout shows that spiritual exhaustion is real. God responds with rest, reassurance, truth, and renewed purpose—not condemnation.

Isaiah 30:15 KJV “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.”
Truth:
God built rest into healing
Reflection Question:

Romans 10:9-109That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-65Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
